Hi Pen,

That’s a very clever puzzle with a  “Dolly” storyline.

As a hint to others, the count could be given as #3  #4  2  #3  #7  to indicate which word is not described by a picture.

SEQ is having an extreme weather event for a couple of days. There is a road weather alert warning drivers to stay off the roads if they can but we have to go across to Coorparoo.

We appear to be in a rain shadow as my rain gauge has recorded less than 50ml (2 inches)

Get back to you later.

Hi Again Jack

I send apologies for any confusion I may have caused!!  I seem to have a mental block where the word counts are concerned :-R
Would it help if I said that Maths was my worst subject at school?  Although I did work in a building society/bank for almost 30 years so that probably wont wash

Have a safe drive to Coorparoo.

Hi Pen,

We got back safely and there were no dramas on the roads we travelled, although the visibility wasn’t great at times.

The puzzle is the name of a 1950’s movie starring a man who lived to be 100.  This one is straight forward – no tricky sequences.  What was the name of the film?; who was the star?; and what year was an earlier film of the same name made?.  Use of google is encouraged.  Can you name another comedian who lived to be 100?

Hi Jack

It's Monday again & I'm trying very hard to be positive.  Folks ain't making it easy for me though!  Pleased your drive was incident free.

While I remember the answer to your previous puzzle was Absent In The Spring by Mary Westmacott :)

I enjoyed & appreciated your puzzle today.  Not too taxing!  Love the easy peasy gif :)

I'm also going to try a film though mine's a little more recent.  Really hope I haven't done it before.

Surname of gent please.
What is the connection between this film &

I think mine's very

Sherlock Holmes & Dr Watson are browsing a market when they come across a stall selling lemons.
"I wonder" says Watson picking up a lemon & examining it closely.  "Exactly where do these fruits come from?"
"Well" says Sherlock taking the lemon out of Watson's hand...
"It's a lemon tree dear Watson!"

On that very corny note

My gent at picture 3 keeps disappearing & reappearing!  Very confusing ???  Not that it takes much to confuse me at the end of the day

Hi Pen,

I got the name of your picture but I need more time to work out the connection with the other picture.  Also which gent were you referring to?  The main actor, the producer, or the guy in the picture? I've got all three.

My puzzle is one I've presented before but I've changed some of the pictures.

You did catch me Jack!  Flagging a bit by now so I'll solve your puzzle tomorrow :)  The gent that kept disappearing was the racing driver!
A gorgeous picture of Bonnie :-*

Hi Pen,

Lunch today was a Guinness steak pie with the perfect accompaniment

I found some interesting ads for Bishops Fingers Beer and I was going to post them, but they made me blush and I chickened out.  But if you wish to see them, google “bishops fingers ads

Bonnie and Dusty in one of their quieter moments

The house we bought has a flagpole and Andrew thought it would be amusing to buy and run some flags up it.  The next two pictures are Bonnie sitting under the first flag to fly.

Bonnie 2

The puzzle today is an idiom we might say about a friend of ours.

Hint- second picture- first name only
On smaller screens pictures may take up more than on line.

I must go and walk Bonnie before the rain returns

G'day Jack

I very much enjoyed your post while drinking my early morning cuppa   A great post & smashing pictures :)

I have to confess that the Guinness steak pie had me more excited than the Bishops Finger ale :-H  I did look at the ads & they were a little raunchy :-[

Love the flag pole & the flag's brilliant.  Makes a change from lots of lights.  There's more than ever here this year - some streets would beat Blackpool illuminations

Your wonder of the ancient world was the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. :)

I'm wondering if our friend has gone quiet because he is plotting world domination >:D

Have to dash off now but I'm on fracture clinic this afternoon so

I'm back Jack!  Girding my loins for a busy afternoon & crossing my fingers that it wont be as bad as I thought!

I just had a patient who should have been in the main department downstairs & not where I am in outpatients X-ray.  He wouldn't have it that he was in the wrong place.  I felt like telling him you're

Nothing quite so dramatic Pen, i've just had little of interest to say
In fact i have been plotting an end of year tribute to put on display
So stay tuned & when it appears, give it your full attention.
Because you never know but you might just get a mention.

I felt like telling him ……..

Don't think you need the word count as it's extra super easy!

You know how addicted I am to word counts but for once you are right.

What else did you feel like telling him
  • you couldn’t run a chook raffle
  • you couldn’t organise a root in a brothel
  • you couldn’t organise a piss-up in a brewery

Your cartoons are always great but the crow one particularly tickled me.

I have heard that you and Pat are such appreciators of everything Christmas that I thought I would ask you to name a carol – no not the Burnett type – the Christmas type.

Hi Jack

I do know you are very addicted to word counts!  Thought I might see if there is some sort of support group I can find for you!

I fell on that crow cartoon by accident & it really tickled me.  Wish I could find a few more like it.

You know exactly how I feel about Christmas!

I think these just about sum me up!

I'm a little puzzled by your puzzle :-\  I thought it was Hark the Herald Angels sing & then realised that was ridiculous for so many different reasons   I do have an answer.  It's not a carol I'm familiar with but I'll sit on it til tomorrow & try it out.

My little puzzle is another festive offering

Hi Pen,

You've got me flummoxed.  I believe I have the first word and the last word but I can't make anything sensible out of the middle word or in fact why a middle word is needed if I am right about the other two.  I'll consult the bright ones in the family when they wake up.

Have a good sleep.

Hi Pen,

Panic's over.  Andrew found a work that fits the bill. I was right about the first and last words but he found the adjective in the middle.

A devilish cunning but very clever puzzle, I must say.

I dips me lid.
