Pretty sure I've got it now...but is Jack's golfer in the right place? And is he even in the word count?
Maybe I'm totally on the wrong path....

Smee again, Pen,

Against all common sense, I am going to try a quick rebus.

A riddle again.     What is whatshisname’s real name.

#5'1  6 (#1 #5)  #3   #5  #4: #4: #7; #3 12

Conceptually one line.  Punctuation not pictured

                   Whatshisname

Picture 1.  Remember the apostrophe is not pictured.
Pictures 2&3.  Use the letters from both pictures. Make an anagram.
Picture 4.  One word(4).  Remove the first letter..
Picture 7. The one on the left
Picture 8.  The one in the middle
Regards, Jack

... However, fools rush in where angels fear to tread.

I am probably totally missing the obvious, but I can only get an answer to your rebus with that word count if I change it a bit.  So here goes:
...

I beg to differ Jack, I think Pen had the order right but failed to put the first word into the word count - I think it should be:

#3 1 #7 2 3 #5

THE A

Please change the third letter of the second picture and the fourth letter of the third.  Position is of paramount importance and one homophone.

The greenest watt ever produced is the one you never use. Playing as jk1956 & John is my name.

If I am correct the golfer's picture is in the right place and his surname is five letters, two of which have to be changed or I am totally on the wrong path.  We will have to wait for Pen to tell us.

RTT...that's what I wanted to say! I didn't think the "who" was the clue.

Hi Folks,

I just got back from the Airport and have had time to work out what went wrong.  John's post alerted me to the fact that there were three pictures and not the two that I had on my Microsoft surface using Microsoft edge  (click here. ) When I found the post on my iPad I found there was an extra picture of a can of worms.

The amazing thing was that except for the verb, missing from the original word count, and making a few assumptions, I came up with the correct result, thanks to the coincident likeness of the words worms and woods

A nice easy little rebus today.  It's an expression.

1 #7 2 #3 #5

Hi Jack & Moyra & John

While I was snoring my head off last night I was causing a bit of confusion :(  My word count should have been #3 1 #7 2 #3 #5.  I think I've done exactly that :-R I realised I needed to add the #3 at the beginning but then I got distracted and forgot to go back and do it.  I'm so very sorry for being a pillock.

I'll try and get back and redeem myself in a little while.

Hi Again Jack

I'm pinching your quote, against every grain of common sense, I'm going to risk a rebus.  :o
It's a funny variation on an expression.  A lovely dotty lady said to one of my colleagues  I'm ....
#2 #3 #2 1 #6 #2 #8 #5
It caused a lot of hilarity

A
Pictures one and three please use the second and third letters only. Please reverse picture two and surname of lady in picture four. One homophone and please pretend it's all on one line.

I've checked, double checked and checked again.  Fingers crossed all is well.

I couldn't solve your previous riddle but I do have an answer for your last one :)

One of my colleagues just asked me if I'd ever tried blindfolded darts.  I replied that I hadn't.
"It's great fun"  he said "you don't know what you're missing!"

Nearly home time thank heavens!  Got a headache and desperate for a cuppa

Hi Pen,

My Rebus is a quote from the English writer Alexander Pope (1688–1744).

If I wasted anybody’s time recently, I hope they will heed the message.

#2  #3 #2 5(#2 #3); #2 7(#3 #4), 6(#2  #4)

Conceptually one line; punctuation not pictured. Where the number of letters in the answer to the picture is greater than the number of letters in the word count use the first letters and discard the rest.

Picture 1. One word (3)

Picture 2.  First name(5).  If you don’t watch 1930’s movie, Elon Musk’s father has the same first name.
Picture 3. One word (6)
Picture 4,  One word(3)
Picture 5. One word(5)
Picture 6.  One word (4).  This is the common variety, widespread in mainland Britain but not in Ireland
Picture 7. One word(4)
Picture 9. One word(4)

My Rebus is a quote from the English writer Alexander Pope (1688–1744).

Hi Jack

Had a busy day so far but now enjoying a cuppa and a doing a post.

That was a cracking rebus :) My rebus is following on your theme. It's a quote from a 19th century American clergyman.

7 (#3 + #4)  6 (#3 + #3). #4 #4 3 #6 #2 #6 2 #3 #5 #4 #4 #4 #4 #5

,.THESAS
Please lose the last letter of pictures 1 and 3 and change the first letter of picture 2. Just one of picture 4 and the last three letters.
Pictures 6 and 15 you need the first 4 of 8 letters. Picture 9 is not who they are but what. Please lose the first 2 letters. Please lose the first letter of picture 12. Please use 4 consecutive letters from picture 13 (13 letters in all!) Please change the first letter of picture 16.
3 homophones and please pretend it's all on one line.
If I've managed this without any mistakes I'll eat my hat >:D

It's about time for another cuppa.

Hi Pen,

As Pilate said of Jesus at his trial, “I can find no fault”.

What a magnificent rebus, Pen

I must get back to sleep.  We have Ruby coming around later this morning and keeping that one out of mischief is like herding cats.   I will need all the energy I can muster.

Thanks Jack  :-*  Made my day :)

My Dad would have said that Ruby is craftier than a cartload of monkeys   I'll bet you're knacked by now  Will you be too tired to watch a bit of the Ryder Cup?  I love it - especially as Europe are doing well so far ;)  I have to admit that I'm always slightly baffled by the scoring but that doesn't stop my enjoyment!

I've still got a few chores to tackle so a nice simple easy puzzle from me today.  It's a whodunnit by a famous author.
#3 5 3 #7

Please re-arrange the letters in picture two. Please ignore Dick Dastardly, Muttley and his crew in picture four.  Position is vital.

6 (#2 + 1 +#3) 8 (#5 + #3)

A
You need the chemical symbol for picture one. Please re-arrange the letters of picture two.  First five letters of the first name of gent in picture three.  Two homophones and all on one line.

That's all from me ...

Hi Pen,

I found the author easy to identify but I think only the clever ones of our group would have found it easy. I didn't.
I had to blow up the fourth picture to recognise the bird with first names of yankee doodle.

Ruby is back again today but Bonnie is running her out of puff.

I have ony watched about 8 hours of the first day of the Ryder Cup,- some live and this morning some recorded.  In about 30 minutes I will be glued to the second days play.
