Mystery Animal
« on: November 23, 2007, 12:51:29 AM »
Will someone please tell me how to do this?  I know there is an elephant in the background but the only animal I can make is the tiger!  It's driving me mad!!

By moving all the tiger pieces to the perimeter, you can see the elephant shape in the rock.  I suppose the object of the game is to use the tiger pieces to outline the elephant, but I'm not getting it to work.

Yes, I've tried that too ... the instructions say you are to form a complete outline of th animal and then the pieces will snap together!  Beats me!

I suppose the trick is to figure out whether you are outlining the elephant from the inside or the outside.

If the pieces have stripes, yet they're to be used for making an elephant, then that's really strange because I can't wrap my brain around the idea of a striped elephant!

I can't see it either ... obviously it's not going to be a stripy elephant ... must have something to do with the elephant in the background but still can't get it!  Anyway, no time now ... the kitchen is beckoning!

detailed instructions: spoiler...

Ele is standing on tiger's back.
His trunk is resting on tiger's head.
Tiger's tail is in the curve of the trunk.
Tiger's font paws outline the front left (ele's head).
Tiger's back left leg and rump outline the top right of ele's back.
Tiger's back right leg fits under the back left leg to outline his back and tail.
That leaves two lower body parts that curve along the top of ele's back sloping down to the left and right.

Simple  ;)

bobbi ... what a star!
Have been struggling with it for ages ... might have been simple for you!!  Like T, I am not renowned for my patience but just felt I had to keep trying to make the flaming elephant and was driving myself (more) round the bend!! Tthanks for saving my sanity!

Umm well not so simple really, forgot to include tiger's face which fits between ele's legs. Might not be that obvious wihtout that last detail... XXX

My pleasure all who struggled. Satisfying to get the program to squish the bits to fit the initial request though. XXX

Thanks - with all the help I was able to get it too.  Figured out the face all by myself - not hard since there wasn't much of any other place to put it.

So did the tiger give birth to the elephant, or just run over it?  ;)

Actually, that was brilliant, bobbi!
I'm very jealous, and therefore making sad, sarcastic comments.

Never was/am good at puzzles like that and admire those who can "see" the patterns where all I see is a big pile of disconnected rubbish!

... and I am absolutely useless at those magic eye pictures!  My husband gets them straight away but I have to stare until I'm cross-eyed before the picture alters (not an attractive look!)  However, I am pretty good at cryptic crosswords (Daily Telegraph especially) so perhaps there is hope after all!!  >:D
