Sorry, but I have a great need to brag a bit.  Not about me.

Yesterday we checked out part of one of the local biking trails.  This was the New River Trail.

I had already known that this end of Virginia is one of the most beautiful places on the planet, and that the scenery in just stepping out the door and going to the local laundromat is not to be missed, but until we went on that trail yesterday I did not know how good it could be.

That is not what I need to brag about.  My wife was able to bicycle 45 miles on this gravel trail with a bad knee.

Good onya, Honey!
Carpe digitus.

Looks like you were trying to fit as many reasons as possible in to brag about. ;)  Say congrats to your wife.

(By the way, I imagine that the bike trails will be even more gorgeous once the leaves start changing.)

Congrats to your wife from me to A non....
I am very impressed.
Won't the trails get all slippy with wet leaves...and dangerous?

What endurance!!!!

I once (very long ago) rode a bike from the Bronx into the heart of Manhattan through Harlem -- it was about 35 miles each way, and although the streets were paved, there were certain parts much more dangerous than slippery paths!

Be careful -- we don't want to hurt ourselves with too much exertion, now, do we?

Take a cool shower, then. Or don't. Are the menfolk still lined up for extra hugs, then?

Re: slippery leaves on bike trails

Not at all!  When the leaves change colors and fall gracefully to the ground is one of the prettiest times of the year.  If you ride your bike over the fallen leaves, or walk on them, they make delightful crunching sounds.

They can be a little slippery when it rains, or just after it rains, but you usually don't go riding your bike at these times.
