techno common?

Is techno — 'A repetitive style of music originally produced for use in a continuous DJ set' — really a common word? Despite years of work in the technology field I never encountered the word before, but I suspect I'm too old for that type of music.

My son is a DJ on the side so I’m definitely aware of it, having said that, it was one of the last words I found!

I missed it, though I have heard it before.  I think it has even come up once or twice in Chi puzzles.  I think it's probably common among younger people, but not among older people.

It’s been around for a while - since the 80s - and is pretty widely known I’d think … not like eg dubstep which could be a 7-by-many seedword?! 🤔 (Heads to ‘your puzzles.’) As widely known as eg disco, house, etc. Of course those words have other reasons for being common!
