Sacristan

I'm probably showing my ignorance here but I've never heard of a sacristan. Is it really a common word?

Not common enough to be a seed word IMHO.

The greenest watt ever produced is the one you never use. Playing as jk1956 & John is my name.

I agree. I occasionally think that the seed word shouldn't be classed as common, but at least I recognise it as a word. Not so this time.

The word jumped out at me immediately. The fact that my mother-in-law served as a sacristan for a number of years might have helped.

I agree this is a rather specialised term. It's one of those words that could be the seed of a 9-letter puzzle or a 7-by-many. I'll change it to rare and drop it as a seed for both types of puzzle - which probably means it'll never appear again.
