First off, my most humble apologies to Alan, who doesn’t deserve this list of “lesses” and “ables” – for each of these I have provided a reference, either dictionary or Wiktionary to support their inclusion. I have indicated using italics those that I consider may be excluded because they may be over-technical and hence unknown to the average well-read player.

Seriously, RTT, is it really so important to you that all these words be accepted that you need to inundate poor Alan?

No, it's not so important to me but, looked at another way, I have saved others from having to suggest these as, can be seen, they all have at least some modicum of legitimacy, as shown by the references... I would be surprised if these all hadn't been tried by at some other player.

I am more than happy for Alan to give a yay/nay judgement without having to go into any detail as per his usual adjudications.

RTT gave me advance warning that he had drawn up a big list of word suggestions from that puzzle. I could have asked him not to post them, but I actually tried a few of them myself, so I think they're worth considering...eventually.

I too have wanted Alan to be spared from an avalanche of outer fringe suggestions. However,  we all have  encountered his finely honed wit tempered by his good nature. He’s quite able to fend

On a personal note, I find RTTs suggestions to be annoying yet easily ignored. I believe them to arise , also, from an impish good humor. It’s hard to figure out who is the straight man in this duo. They both seem to be having fun.

I'm adding smashable, smellable and lashless, which are all in Merriam-Webster, as rare words. And I'm adding labellable as a rare word, since the spelling labelable is already accepted and the double-L variant is listed in the Collins dictionary.

The other words I decline to add. Meshless may not be in any general dictionary; the others seem to be in Wiktionary only, and Wiktionary has a very broad policy on inclusion of words which can result in it listing nonce words or other very obscure coinages. It may be that some of these words are used often enough that they ought to be in our list, but I'd need to be convinced.

Hemless is one I tried (and have tried other times). It might not be in dictionaries? but comes up often in descriptions of clothing etc. For example https://www.braandcorsetsupplies.com/2018/07/15/make-hemless-boyshorts/

I’d even say it was common!
