WORKWEEK common?
« on: February 10, 2022, 04:16:24 PM »
I'd like to query the 'common' status of workweek (in yesterday's WICKERWORK 7-by-many).

I suspect that it's a usage likely to be confined to North America. The UK and Australia might be more inclined to say 'working week'.

I'd tend to agree, brr, but I'm more concerned that WICKERWORK is considered common...  :-P :-P :-P

WICKERWORK

I would like to suggest that women of my vintage and our mothers would have
had wickerwork baskets

Bring them back I say better than plastic  >:D >:D

I don't feel either workweek or wickerwork are uncommon enough to warrant changing to rare. It's true that workweek is more frequently used in the US than elsewhere, but I think it appears often enough in publications around the English-speaking world that most people would be aware of it.

Thank you for considering a demotion for workweek, Alan. At least it's now etched in my memory (I hope).  :-R
