Vale Les
« on: November 03, 2021, 01:10:59 PM »
As she mentioned in another topic, Moyra (auntiemo) sent a personal message to Les to check that he was all right. She received this reply, which she passed on to me.

Quote
Good morning,
This is Sharee, Les' niece. I have some sad news. Uncle Les suddenly passed away on the 21 October. He had a heart attack, triple bypass surgery but sadly was not strong enough to come back to us. His funeral was yesterday.
Regards
Sharee

This is sad news indeed.

During two periods of forum membership, Les was a prolific contributor. He shared with us some of his life story. He took a warm interest in other forum members, which is a big part of the reason that the "More or Les" thread that he started took off and continues to this day as a lively topic. More recently he started a topic dedicated to the 7-by-many puzzle, but without his daily comments on players' achievements, the thread has been dormant over recent weeks.

I'm sure others will want to post tributes and memories of Les.

Lovely sentiments, Alan. I hope Sharee sees this and passes our thoughts on to Les' family.

I thought Les would come back to us again, and it's a shock to find that he won't.

He was a genuine character, and I don't think there's a single forum regular that won't miss him.

Such sad, sad news - I've only been on the forum a short while but Les was a large part of what made the forum what it is...

His humour and generosity will be sorely missed!

Les was a larrikin but a very charming and likeable larrikin.

It is a pity that we cannot let his family know how much we appreciated him and miss him but it is good that we can share a tribute to him among ourselves.

That is sad news indeed. His blow-by-blow analyses of the 7-by-many races added an extra and entertaining dimension to the puzzles, which I for one miss. Condolences to his family.

Very sad news.

I will always remember Les' reaction to my email to him when I addressed him as "hey sweetie" when he hadn't got "saccharin".

A forumite to remember.
