Thanks for your best wishes Binks and Linda.  Good news is that the GP rang this afternoon and he has arranged a specialist appointment for 8.30am tomorrow.  Whether that will provide any answers is another question.

Hope things go well with your Dad Linda.

Best wishes

Glad to hear it, Gaye ... good luck for tomorrow.

Sadly, my Dad died 6 years ago ... he had been ill for a long time and had battled with cancer for 20 years.  It is the anniversary of his death at the end of this month ... we all still miss him so much.

It must be so hard right now, Gaye, as it has been for those of us who have experienced similar situations. My mother died after lingering with cancer on and off for 5 years, too. It's a heart-break, but you can console yourself that you are being a good daughter, that you two love each other, and that you are doing everything you possibly can for your father. He couldn't ask for more than that, and whatever the outcome, you will always have that!

Take care, Gaye -- be strong. You are stronger than you think!

Sorry Linda that I misread your post.  Its always a difficult time, and of course you miss those you love.  However, having gone through it all with my Mum a few years back, she is just as real as ever to me, just not here with us.

Thanks Threeb for your support.  I know you always find the strength when you need it.

The news at the specialist was not good, and we are off to see a palliative specialist tomorrow.

Meanwhile, thanks to Chi I can occasionally escape from the cares of the day, so thanks once again Alan for providing the therapy.

Hi T - How are you?  Actually its nearly lunch-time here.

We're not doing too badly.  Weekends are my opportunity to get out a bit these days, though have to leave hubby at home with Dad.  Nothing too exciting mind you - a bit of shopping, pick up some work etc etc.  We now are officially connected to the palliative care system, so hopefully they will organise a volunteer to come and spend time with Dad once a week, so I can have some time to myself.  Even though I am not rushing around as much as before I find I'm continually tired.  Seem to have people, both friends and people like nurses etc, popping in regularly, and the phone is always ringing at the most inconvenient time.  Still its good for Dad to know people care.

We have been having some drought-breaking (hopefully) rain lately, which is lovely, but am starting to remember how inconvenient it is when you've got bags of shopping to get to the car.  Came home drenched yesterday!

Is your computer all fixed?  Hope so. How are the girls?  Do hope you have a great weekend.  I really look forward to them now.

I'm truly glad to hear that you are getting a few things sorted out...we all need some time to ourselves, even if it is just around the supermarket!

I know what you mean about the 'tired' thing...i get times when i feel like that too. No ammount of sleep helps either.
I turn off my phones...and warn people that the coming weekend might not be a good time to visit...sometimes it has to be done, just so that i can catch my breath. Perhaps you can try it occasionally.... :-\

Glad to hear you are having some rain...we are getting more than our fair share. It's been howling all day with torrential showers thrown in for good measure.

I have spent all day running around and working on Roy's bathroom...again!!! Another of my valuable weekends down the pan. It is beginning to really P me off now, that i am doing it all while the kids [hardly kids though] spend their weekends doing exactly what they want and don't give me a thought. But if i didn't do it it wouldn't get done and it needs to be done.
But i have made a decision or 2....
Once Christmas day, and the New Year are out of the way, i am telling them that i no longer intend to do anything with/in the house anymore.
It will be a year that i have run around after the 2 of them, and i need some closure on it, so that i can get back on track with my house and my own kids and my own life.
As young adults with responsibilities, they need to take them on...and not expect me to do it.

There is nothing there for me anymore...except my memories, and i can take those everywhere and anywhere....

Well my friend, i am off to bed...
You take care, and keep in touch...
Big hugs...
XX

Hi T,

Things are OK - glad it's the weekend.  My sister and niece are here for the weekend which is nice.  Not much else has changed.  Glad things have looked up for you.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend.

Cheers
Gaye

Hi T,

Thanks for your kind thoughts.  We are doing OK - being a bit self-indulgent!  We're both back at work, but have booked a couple of holidays.  A long weekend in a couple of weeks time (north coast of NSW), and a couple of weeks at the beginning of Mar (south coast just for a change).  I'm looking forward to it, but meantime there are lots of loose ends that need to be tied up.  Gradually getting the essentials done.  Other things we'll just do as we feel like it.

How are you and the girls? Did you have hols over Christmas - I guess its different there to Oz where everything slows down for much of Jan.  Oz kids have their long summer holidays now.

It's starting to heat up in Canberra though I think down Alan's way they've had it pretty hot for a while.  I must say summer is not my favourite season - much easier to do something about the cold than the heat!

Well hope all is well with you and thanks once again for your kind thoughts.

You take care...xx
