Gorgeous pic Anonsi, what beautiful blue sea.  Sorry the flight home was so horrid.  I presume American Airlines is one of the "cheap" ticket groups?  We have several here for internal flights, some ok and some dreadful.

Hi Toni,

American is actually one of our big airlines, like Delta and Continental.  But all the airlines are in trouble, and have been cutting back, and nickel-and-diming the customers with extra charges. 

I flew a truly discount airline, Spirit Air, to Florida a couple of weeks ago - there they didn't even provide free water, though they had it and other things for sale.  In addition to charging me for one checked bag, they also charged me for reserving my seat in advance.  The seats were so crowded in that the man in the row ahead of me had no room for his knees - he had to move to another row - which they were going to charge him for!  The friend I flew with, who'd used that airline before, also said that the planes were frequently dirty - they fly in and fly out right away with insufficient cleaning because of the short turnaround time.  There was no  problem that way with our flights, though.

Sounds horrid, but I think I would probably put up with it to be able to travel!

And so I did!  I wouldn't do it for a long flight, though.

I finally did it! After more than two years of living in my condo, I finally painted one of the rooms.  My condo had all new paint on all the walls, so I wasn't really in any rush to do it.




I started small, with my guest bath.  It's a slate gray.

If you run out rooms, Anonsi, my apartment could use a little painting.  What am I saying?  It could use a LOT of painting.  I've been avoiding it for years, in spite of peeling paint, because I just can't stand the thought of packing everything up and moving it for the painters.

I like the color - it allows for so much variety in things like towels, etc.

I can't stand the thought of packing everything up and moving it for painting either. That's why I started with a bathroom. Lots less to move, and no worries about accidentally getting it on things (since nearly every surface is washable ).  I can't bring myself to pay to have painters do it, though -- even though I really want to!  I feel like I've watched enough normal homeowners on HGTV do it that I should be able to as well.  Dang those overacheivers making me feel like I can do it!

Part of the problem is that my apartment is so full of stuff that I don't have any place to move things if I do pack them up.  Maybe if they were willing to do one half of the room at a time...

My landlord would paint - he's required to do it every three years or more if there's need - for instance, when his restaurant had a fire and sent smoke throughout the building.  He's gotten away with it for a long time with me - since I just can't stand moving all the stuff.

Um... none of the above? I just started work a little over a half hour ago!  Sadly it's only 9:15 a.m. here. Long way to go before I can relax for the evening!
