The magpie-lark, also known as wee magpie, peewee, peewit or mudlark, is a passerine bird native to Australia, Timor and southern New Guinea. The male and female both have black and white plumage, though with different patterns. John Latham described the species in 1801. Wikipedia.

Lovely little birds, very territorial but given the restricted geographical location might be considered for reclassification. One of them and Bonnie has a difference of opinion about which belongs in our backyard.

This definition would not be sufficient to classify peewee as a common word. The more widely known meaning, in my country at least, is a short or small person or object. In the United States there are peewee sports leagues for younger children, and there is a small playing marble classified as peewee.

As for my lack of a rosette for this game, I might have gotten it if only I had taken the pawpaw out of its wrapper.

I didn’t want to think about the WORKWEEK over the weekend.

Who would???

If you’ve scored a score of commons today you’ll have wound up with a rosette like our rosetteers blackrockrose, 2dognight, Roddles, auntiemo, dragonman, ozzys June and Jack and yours truly… Well done everyone (if I do say so myself 😉😉😉)!!! 👏👏👏

Whilst finding nineteen commons, Maudland missed by the smallest of margins making her a rosettenear which is one better than vizal and rogue_mother who were two two short, making them our ballerinas of the day…

Three off the mark, on seventeen, we find Jancsika and yelnats followed by Scouser1952, who clocked in on fourteen…

And, with ten more than the rosette common word score, you’ll wind up with your mavenhood intact just like yours truly*, dragonman*, rogue_mother, 2dognight*, blackrockrose* and auntiemo* - great work!!! 😎😎😎 As per usual, the asterisks signify double dignity… 🎉🎉🎉

I could not determine the extent of lupus in a populous city.

If you found twenty nine common words in today’s 7bm your reward would be a rosette and we have a few rosetteers to congratulate: 2dognight, yours truly, Roddles, ozzyjune, blackrockrose and ozzyjack – well worded everyone!!! 👏👏👏

At twenty eight words located our rosettenears were yelnats, dragonman, rogue_mother and Maudland – that last word can be challenging (though I believe my last was nanny!!!)…

Jancsika was all alone on twenty seven masking him two short by far whilst auntiemo found twenty five making her four off the pace…

Next, on twenty two, vizal joined the party whilst Scouser1952 found seventeen with doxydaisy a non-starter again…

With the answer to life, the universe and everything you’ll become a maven and those with their mavenhood intact include dragonman, ozzyjack*, rogue_mother, yours truly* and 2dognight – great effort all!!! 😎😎😎 As per usual, the asterisks signify double dignity… 🎉🎉🎉

My tendency to overlook banyan doesn't abate.

Actually, I only know about "banyan" from the Steely Dan song, "Aja":

"Chinese music under banyan trees
Angular banjos sound good to me"
