Distracted by an orator who couldn't string her words together in a consonant manner and seemingly lacking a brain, this old carcass failed to achieve that sacrosanct rosette.

I started to scribble this missive before the 2pm (for me) cut-off time and, with thirty five common words required, we had two rosetteers in Roddles and doxydaisy – well done both of you!!! 👏👏👏 Roddles, you must be on a roll – how many is that???

We also had two rosettenears in dragonman and Maudland who managed thirty four of those thirty five – what was that outstanding word???

Getting thirty three commons will make you two short and there are several contenders for that moniker today in blackrockrose, auntiemo, 2dognight and rogue_mother…

I found thirty two commons which put me three off the pace – I found it RISIBLE that I would need to BRIBE a LIBELLER to stop telling lies about me but such is the state of free speech… :P :P :P

Next was Jancsika with thirty one commons unearthed while ozzyjune was one further back on thirty…

Then came yelnats on twenty nine followed by vizal on twenty seven…

Making a belated appearance on nineteen was ozzyjack while Scouser1952 could be found with fourteen commons…

The quest for mavenhood was left to our regulars, rogue_mother and dragonman who both exceeded the seventy two word threshold – good job both of you… 😎😎😎

I don't have a cleric in my circle to absolve me for missing just two words that should have been very obvious.

Another high word count game with fifty two common words required for a rosette – given that, it was good to see five rosetteers amongst our crew. Our charge was led by doxydaisy, followed by me, auntiemo, Roddles and Maudland – great work!!! 👏👏👏

We also had three rosettenears with fifty one commons with blackrockrose leading off Jancsika and rogue_mother – where did you go wrong???

Sitting pretty on fifty was dragonman and, because he was sitting, you may not have noticed that he was two short…

Next was yelnats on forty nine commons, three off the pace, followed by ozzyjune on forty seven with five words missing…

On forty six we find vizal whereupon we have a big gap to ozzyjack and Scouser1952 who decided that discretion was the better part of valour and so promptly exited after finding the seed word!!!

Mavenhood demanded at least ninety three words total, a benchmark that I*, together with rogue_mother, doxydaisy* and dragonman, rose to… Good work!!! 😎😎😎 As per usual, the asterisks signify double dignity… 🎉🎉🎉

With a target of forty one common words, it was surprising there weren’t more rosettes with just fourteen awarded out of the three hundred and twenty players; fortunately for us, we had two rosetteers amongst them with rogue_mother and Roddles stepping up to the plate… Great work, both of you!!! 👏👏👏

We also had four rosettenears with 2dognight, yelnats, Jancsika and yours truly all missing by one – my efforts were not the SANEST I have encountered…

Sitting on thirty nine commons we find four of our number, doxydaisy, dragonman, blackrockrose and Maudland, who ended the time being two short…

Next, on thirty eight and three off the mark, were auntiemo and ozzyjune whilst vizal could be found on thirty five…

Clocking in on thirty three was ozzyjack with Scouser1952 a further five behind him on twenty eight…

With sixty eight words needed for mavenhood, the only ones able to reach this level were our regulars, dragonman and rogue_mother* - it certainly was harder than it appeared at first blush… Well done both of you!!! 😎😎😎 As per usual, the asterisk signifies double dignity and, today, that means rogue_mother alone… 🎉🎉🎉

Rosette requirements are for forty four fiendishly fulfilled, falteringly found, frequently fielded, phrase foundations today; phew, I’m glad I got that off my chest!!! Of the nine rosetteers in total, dragonman and doxydaisy were determined to drag our deranged devil-may-care do-gooders over the line – well done you!!! 👏👏👏

Just missing out but still awarded a rosettenear were auntiemo and Roddles… I’m going to take a wild stab and suggest that banns was your downfall…

With the answer to life, the universe and everything but still two short to get a rosette was Jancsika…

Meanwhile, rogue_mother and I were three off the mark on forty one whilst 2dognight and blackrockrose were one common word behind us… I don’t know if this is the right ARENA considering the RARENESS of the practice these days but what do people think about the need for having BANNS before being able to have a church wedding???

Next were yelnats and ozzyjune on thirty eight but still two words ahead of vizal on thirty six…

Maudland and Scouser1952 were MIA and ozzyjack found the three seed words and went to pick up Andrew??? (…or perhaps was just too involved in socialising???)

Seventy eight was where the bar for mavenhood was set and clearing it, with decisive aplomb, were rogue_mother, dragonman* and doxydaisy* - good job all round!!! 😎😎😎 As per usual, the asterisks signify double dignity… 🎉🎉🎉
