Hi Moyra,

Biota was a shoe-in for us because it was the name of a top restaurant in Bowral and although we never went there we were curious about what the name meant.

Ah, but how often do you get Maven, RM - is it every day??

It may seem like I get to Maven every day, but it's just an illusion. According to the stats page I only make Maven about half the time -- 56.8% for the 7bm. Maybe the illusion exists because I do better at the Standard puzzle -- 84.4%. Much closer to every day. In the Maven category I rank 4th for the Standard puzzle, and 6th overall for the 7bm.

Yesterday's 7bm (BASSOONIST, BASTION, BOTANIST) goes into the unsuccessful column. I missed a few non-common words that I sometimes find, as well as the common words tattooist and satiation, not words that roll off my tongue.

Blimey, RM - over 50% still seems pretty astonishing to me. You must have a tremendous vocabulary.

Would SOMEONE please tell me that SENSUOUS and SENSUOUSNESS are words!!!

Dang!  :-[ :-[ :-[

auntiemo was joined by Maudland as the rosetteers amongst us - well done the both of you!

doxydaisy and Roddles followed close behind on nineteen common words hence becoming rosettenears. dragonman has the solitary honour of being two short today with myself, yelnats, ozzyjune and ozzyjack one further back on seventeen.

HJ (Jancsika) scored sixteen whilst rogue_mother and vizal both managed fifteen common words.

This was yet another low scoring and difficult games - what will the next 7bm hold???

Rosetteers included: doxydaisy (almost goes without saying...)

Now, I have to apologise - it looks like I've put a moxie on doxy - if the universe is listening, I hereby lift it...  :-P :-P :-P

No you didn't John. It was due to my stupidity entirely that I missed summonses. Plurals have always done my head in and have usually been the cause of me missing a rosette. And yes sensuous and sensuousness really are words ;D. Well done on your rosette the other day John (I've lost track when that was) and meant to congratulate you while I was popping the cork of a bottle of bubbly and raising my glass to your success.. and then I completely forgot about it!

Perhaps I got that one because I've had a couple for climate activism...  :-P :-P :-P

Today we seem to be doing things by twos with our rosetteers being ozzyjune and ozzyjack and our rosettenears being doxydaisy and Maudland. Well done all of you for getting forty one and forty common words respectively!

Breaking the mould, rogue_mother was joined in her diminutiveness by myself and dragonman on thirty nine with another group of three in Jancsika, auntiemo and Roddles one further back on thirty eight.

Next came yelnats all on his lonesome on thirty six followed by vizal on thirty four!

That's a pair of twos, a pair of threes and a pair of ones - nice going everyone (or is that everytwo???)  ;D ;D ;D

We also had a further triplet of mavens in doxydaisy, dragonman and rogue_mother with special kudos to dragonman for finding all six seed words!!! There must be some specialist knowledge there to have found KIELBASA, KIELBASI and KLEBSIELLA!!!

I was sure I had tried SALABLE and SALEABLE but the score says otherwise - go figure! Probably a slip on the keyboard though I'm hesitant to admit anything that smacks of human frailty...  :-R :-R :-R
