Anally. I missed anally! But only one short today, RTT, not too short this time – even though I'm actually well short of five feet.

John,

It might be an idea if you did a refresh before you do your analysis.  I have noticed a couple of times that you have not picked up entries made close to closing time.  For the record, I missed Cannonball, Lobby and Lolly.

On rebuses, authors sometimes get writers' block.  I am going through a period of rebus block.

CANNONBALL blew up my chances of a rosette, too, Jack - although I got it on the way to work, after the puzzle was closed. So, definitely a rosettenear with that one!

Good job to make Maven, John! Alas, I couldn't join the rosettenears. I coyly avoided the cannonball for the loss.

mine was caused by CANOLA, yet another"common" word that I didn't know.

Common in Oz even though I believe it comes from CANadian Oil Low Acid

I think canola is called rapeseed in England.

Well, doxydaisy is back in the game and, together with Maudland and ozzyjune, scored a well deserved rosette!

Rosettenears included blackrockrose, dragonman and ozzyjack (I noticed from ozzyjune's player description in General notes she has: beating ozzyjack - I think a restraining order may be in order, Jack ;) )

Jancsika, Roddles and rogue_mother have all received a reduction in stature as they were all two short coming in at 45 common words found!!!

yelnats scored 44, I scored 41 (and I'm kicking myself for some of the words I missed!)

vizal managed 39 and auntiemo 37

dragonman, whilst missing a rosette, did achieve maven status which, to my mind, was outstanding...

Onwards to today's puzzle...

That might explain it....

As for the next game, SIERRA and AIRBASE led to my bumpy landing.

As for the next next game, I see Doxydaisy is there already. Well done yet again!

I googled.. .

Canola oil is a vegetable oil derived from a variety of rapeseed that is low in erucic acid, as opposed to colza oil. There are both edible and industrial forms produced from the seed of any of several cultivars of the plant family Brassicaceae. Wikipedia

After 57 years, it would be a bit strange if I started complaining about it now.  In any case, when I get a good score, it is generally because I have been pointed in the right direction.

I missed AIRBASE.  I thought it was two words.  After a bit of research, I accept that it can also be a single word.

I couldn't find the brasserie on the airbase. Brasserie is not a word that would jump out at me, although I do know it. There are some in Inside the Beltway, but none in my immediate neighborhood. I know the word airbase, but I'm more used to the phrase air force base.

I got BRASSERIE ages before I got BRASSIERE. Priorities.

Maven scores are a phenomenal achievement! Well played!
