my difficult word was kickback  :D  Iambic was one of the first ones I got. Mamma was the last word I got. I'll have to get rid of that blind spot.

I got Balalaika very early but was disappointed that balalaiki was not accepted as a legitimate plural.
Regards, Jack

I missed KICKBACK and BALALAIKA - I was disappointed I missed kickback but there was not a hope in hell I was going to get balalaika...

Congrats to those who scored rosettes - it was quite a tough one IMHO

I had no trouble in finding kickback  but would never have found iambic or balalaika ( my limited education certainly did not include the study of English literature.)
Mamma tends to come up pretty regularly so i am sure that it will not be the last word that you find when it next appears.
I was pretty pleased with myself when i found abaci but disappointed when it came up as are. ( i am sure that abacus would be common )
Geez HJ, you set yourself a very tough target.
I just keep it simple & try to find as many words as i can.

My downfall was also kickback.  Extremely irritating.  Especially since I once worked in real estate!

I don't know enough obscure words to get into maven territory and beyond, so I've decided to concentrate on my "short game" ! :D

Sounds like a good strategy, especially as you have such a good "short game".

My husband and I are in real estate and we have never, ever been part of a kickback. Actually it’s against the law  including gifts or even hampers unless fully disclosed to vendors. We give people a spotters fee or hamper or gift card if they refer someone to us and they sell their house with us, but this is a spontaneous arrangement - a nice surprise would probably describe it best - and if we refer people to solicitors or building report companies etc, we give a list of at least five and we receive nothing in return. I guess kickbacks might be more applicable to shady operators and they are in all walks of life including unfortunately our elected representatives in government.

I missed iambic and balalaika. Would never have got balalaika in a million years. Les will have a bet on your Lunakorn.

When our teachers told us that learning about "acids and alkalis" and "iambic pentameter" would benefit us in later life they were right - just not necessarily in the way they meant!

I missed alkali! 😳 Although I was SO pleased at finding balalaika, it almost felt like a rosette.
Well done, everyone! It was a tough one. And special awards to the rosette winners 👏🏻👏🏻

Sorry Dox, but LUNAKORN has let me down.
