I would never tip a horse that i was not prepared to put my own money on.
Perhaps, just a little quicker gallop from yourself today & you could of topped that scoreboard. >:D
The seed word has me totally stumped at the moment.

The top 2 players already had rosettes when I started playing the game Les but thanks for your confidence in me. Keep plugging away at it.. I'm sure you'll get it. If it helps any I add extra letters to the letters provided and shuffle them around. This prompts me to get more words and sometimes a word will shuffle into place.. hope this makes sense.

Go Mike! Well done!

It [today's 'big word'] has a lot of people stumped;
no clues, but using the 'shuffle' facility repeatedly is what I do in that situation. It often works.

Ann, i do understand what you & Mike are saying & i have tried the shuffling technique for a short time with limited results.
Obviously you do not just shuffle the 7 available letters so i throw in a few extras & usually just end up with a whole lot of gobbledygook?

By the way, PANCHO ( & i would normally phrase this in a different manner )  won race 7 by a big margin.

I got the uncommon word at about word 8 but the common is elusive.

That never occurred to me to do Dox, thanks, so far it’s only boggled my mind more, but I’m sure the main word will jump out at me soon enough with extra letters, doubled and tripled up!

It feels like it should be a capital.

I found another all letter word, langosta, a central American lobster which was "unknown" but doesn't seem as foreign or less common than glasnost!

Stan, when it comes to finding all of those " big " words, you really do set the standard.

Following on from Stan's post I've come across words through various puzzles like grevillea (flowering plant) and alsatian (breed of dog) which have shown 'not known' that I find baffling as I think both are known but not necessarily common. I'm not going to make work for Alan as I know he has enough on his plate.

I think Alsatian is written with a capital letter (from Alsace).
Common, certainly but it doesn't follow the 'no capitals' rule.

Luckily, "perestroika " has too many letters to ever be a seed word!

I'm not going to make work for Alan as I know he has enough on his plate.

Believe it or not, I like to be made aware of missing words, especially ones that I've heard of. It may result in additions to the word list that will increase people's enjoyment of the puzzle.

As Mike has pointed out, Alsatian is generally written with a capital A. But this is not always the case, so I'll have a look at it in due course.

Grevillea is also often written with a capital letter, perhaps because it is a genus name. But it is also used without capitalisation as the common names of various species. However these species are all native to Australia and nearby places, so may not be mentioned in some northern hemisphere dictionaries. I'll have a look at this one too.
