I also think that Morbius's suggestion to expand the stats is a great idea & have every confidence that you can overcome the technicalities.

I do disagree with any change to the unique " maven " &  " cham " titles, keep the tradition alive, we probably even have some chi players out there who are under 16 years old.

Quote from Jackie ; " I’m finding myself lying in bed with words and letters just spinning round my head anyway so I might as well torture myself with a new game! "

Obviously a divinyl's fan ... It's a fine line between pleasure & pain.

Maud, you can look at the "  list by plays " which gives you a pretty a fair indication of which words were played early or which words were the hardest to find.
Bad luck on just missing out on that hat - trick.

The play of the day has to go to Valerie finishing with just one more star than menuke.

Yeah, but The Mighty Mike achieved far more common words than me.  Which he always does.  I'm very happy plodding along behind him.

I have to admit that I find the 7-by-many game quite a challenge.  I really can't get my head around the fact that you can use the letters as many times as you wish.  I am so ingrained into using them just once which is what I've been doing with Chi and and other Target games for nearly five decades now.  My partner, on the other hand (with whom I play), manages it quite well.  He even uses the letters multiple times in all the other games and can't understand why his word isn't accepted!  Sigh...!  But we get there in the end.

Before the 7-by-many came along l used  occasionally to play the other games as an "anon" with moderate levels of success. I somehow just found the "new" game more appealing and got absorbed in it. Even now, whenever I do play the other games, my results are nowhere near as good as in the 7-by-many. I think I have only ever got a rosette once!

"Horses for courses " like they say...

Sorry Gareth, i just realised that i overlooked your brilliant rosette.

A big tip for anyone still playing the current game & that is to have a close look at the solution from the previous game.

Definitely a bit of a deja vu feeling with that game.
I see that a lot of us came up just a couple of words short.
The one that i missed was paratroops.

I missed paratroops too, although I tried paratroop and it was rejected. Although I can accept that paratroop is not really a word that can be used in the singular, it seems to me that paratroops is genuinely a plural noun rather than a collective noun, and therefore should not be allowed.

I think you must have mistyped "paratroop" Rose because I entered it and it was accepted as "rare". It didn't even occur to me to enter "paratroops" as I saw this as a simple regular plural.  I think anyone who missed this word only should award themselves an honorary rosette (sadly this doesn't apply to me as I missed out on "tartar" also!)

I also missed one common word `paratroopS`. I would never have got it in a million years let alone 24 hours!

Jancsika, I couldn't remember whether it was actually rejected or only rare (and you can't check by re-entering it once you've viewed the solution), but either way it wasn't accepted as common, so thank you for clarifying.

I thought about this and now I think I understand why. Bear with me...

It's basically a "trouser/ trousers" situation.

"Paratroop" in the singular would indeed be rare ("paratrooper" being the usual expression). However "paratroops" (as in "send in the paratroops") would be far more common. The reason this does not apply to "troop / troops" is because "troop" is a common verb also.

Does this make sense?

Yes it does make sense, but I still think it more likely that someone would say 'Send in the paratroopers'.
