And why trailing but not trailling when we have trialing and trialling?

English???  :-R :-R :-R

Does anyone else experience almost total brain freeze? I spent quite a while just staring and shuffling......and then shrugged and walked away!
I smiled at the solution....couldn’t even summon up the forehead slap.
Hopefully I will fare better today.

I'm with you, too. Even if I hadn't been busy nailing down the contract by initialling all the forms, I still wouldn't have found trialling. Nobody I know uses this word. Wikipedia seems to think this spelling is British and Canadian, neither of which I am.

Four times a groomsman, never the groom – fortunately this didn’t apply to me today… Two dozen was our target of common words to earn a rosette today and our rosetteers were 2dognight, doxydaisy, auntiemo, myself, dragonman, ozzyjune, ozzymAndias, Roddles, 👏👏👏

Taking the “bridesmaid’s” place today as rosettenear of the day was yelnats…

On twenty two and two short to care were blackrockrose, rogue_mother and Maudland…

Our next entrant was ozzyjack on an even twenty, four off the mark whilst Jancsika and vizal were one further back…

Scouser1952 joined the fray on fourteen and was the last person to do so from our coterie…

Mavenhood starts at thirty 😉 and dragonman*, doxydaisy*, auntiemo*, 2dognight*, ozzymAndias*, rogue_mother, ozzyjune*, myself*, and yelnats all achieved that mark – how cool is that!!!😎😎😎

Lacuna - never heard of it and checking the definition, I am not surprised as to why!

No doubt noticed the missing part.

I'd have to support any move to make lacuna uncommon. Even though it is well known to me as a specialist word in my field (geology) to refer to the insignificant time gap between bedding laminations in sedimentary rocks, it is so specialised a word that it would be my guess that even a majority of geologists are unaware of what that time gap is called. But for once it gave me an advantage in Chihuahua😊

I learnt LACUNA when I studied history, and a very useful word it is too. Missed it this time though! So cross with myself, I can’t even CANCAN.

I have found lacuna in the past, but not, alas, this time. Perhaps it was because I was too busy trying to dig a new canal.

Very few rosettes in today’s game with fifty three common words to be found. Still, of the eight in total, four came from our coterie with ozzyjack, ozzyjune, doxydaisy and ozzymAndias all being rosetteers… Nicely done!!! 👏👏👏

Our “bridesmaid” today was rogue_mother with a well-orchestrated rosettenear!!!

Next, on an even half century and three off the pace, we have dragonman and yours truly – I am such a STUTTERER that I will STUTTER over the word TRUSTIES!!!

Joining in the fun on forty eight was blackrockrose whilst vizal was one further back on forty seven…

Checking in on forty six we find yelnats and Jancsika before a big gap to Roddles on thirty three…

Another gap to auntiemo on twenty five which is where this story ends as Maudland, Scouser1952 and RL were MIA…

A maven target of ninety words left most people out in the cold but ozzyjack*, doxydaisy*, rogue_mother, ozzymAndias* and dragonman all managed to get their mavenhood in order… Well done!!! 😎😎😎

Well, today is one of those days when more 7beamers get a rosette than don’t – with all twenty words discovered, our rosetteers were 2dognight, Maudland, ozzyjune, dragonman, auntiemo, Roddles, doxydaisy, ozzymAndias and ozzyjack – well done all nine of you… 👏👏👏

Missing that final word puts you in rosettenear territory and, together with rogue_mother, I found myself screaming in an altogether STAGY manner when my omission was revealed…

Being two short was the order of the day for yelnats, vizal and Jancsika – perhaps they’d seen that a glass bottle with a paper label that says, "DRINK ME" and couldn’t resist…

Next to join the fray was blackrockrose on sixteen followed by Scouser1952 on thirteen which is where our efforts come to an end…

With just twenty five words for mavenhood, one might expect a high level of mavens appearing amongst our throng and you wouldn’t be disappointed with rogue_mother, dragonman*, ozzymAndias*, 2dognight*, Roddles*, doxydaisy* and Maudland* all getting this rank… 😎😎😎
As per usual, the asterisks signify double dignity… 🎉🎉🎉
Extra kudos goes to ozzyjack who exceeded the mavenhood level and took it to the next! What a cham!!! 🏵️🏵️🏵️🎉🎉🎉😎😎😎

Stagy and shyly did me in, but I was very distracted by Lysaght - a steel roofing maker in the town where I grew up. I  kept seeing it and missed shyly when I had slyly. I would never have got stagy without an E.

I had a few salty things to say about missing the rosette this time around.
