Location of Active Forumites
« on: February 24, 2021, 04:41:47 PM »
For my own amusement, I developed a chart of active or semi-active forumites and where I believed they reside.  You might be interested, but I would also be grateful if you would advise me of any Errors or Omissions.   In the meantime, I will work on how to improve the presentation of the information

Click here to see the chart

If you find it hard to read there is a zoom feature at the bottom of the page.

G'day Jack,
I continue to be astounded by your expertise on the computer.
The chart that you have produced is simply brilliant. (thanks for the zoom button).
May i suggest that an even more comprehensive chart could display the locations of all players, not just forumites.
There are many players who have no interest in or at least choose not to contribute to the forum but they do list their location in their profiles.
Such a chart would show just how many countries throughout the world enjoy playing this wonderful game.
I assume that this concept might create some technical challenges but i have every confidence that you would be able to overcome them.
If you enter skinnynoodle into the forum search function, it will take you back to a 2016 thread of the same theme.

It certainly reinforces the global appeal of Chihuahua and word games are popular everywhere with like-minded souls.

Your many labors, Jack, also your joys, are gifts to your readers.

Not all us sensitive flowers have an Auntiemo to remember us, so in the spirit of asking the busy among us — Jack — to do even more, may I suggest warmly inviting all who wish to submit their info for inclusion on your chart to do so.

Also, please keep doggy pictures coming  Who cannot love them

That's brilliant Jack :) Love it! Must have taken you yonks.  It's really interesting to see where everybody is.  It always tickles me when I see Tony (Scouser 1952) I always wonder why he's not in Liverpool   No logic just my silly slightly warped brain!  Pen

Hi All,

I have amended the data and imported it into another computer program that I have not used before.  The output is not as pretty but I think it is more easily readable.  Again I am asking for advice of Errors and Omissions.  For my own satisfaction, I will continue to see if I can improve the data and its presentation.

I would like to hear from those people who follow and enjoy the forum but who for whatever reason do not want to make a public post.  You can always send me a private message.

Hi Moyra and Paula,

I was gutted when Moyra alerted me that I had left Paula out.

I take the suggestion to invite anybody who is willing to be added to the list to contact me, either publicly or by private message

I will seek out some puppy photos and post them when I get back to the Bloody Plurals ranch.
Regards, Jack

Must have taken you yonks.

Both of you overestimate the skill and time required.  The fancy presentation in the first post was all done by a $A15 Microsoft program Mind Maps Pro.  All I did was mundane data entry.  Unlike some more expensive mind mapping programs I have used in the past when the programs were paid for by employer, it didn’t cope with presenting the modest amount of data in an easily readable format but the graphics were sexy.

I found a free version of an expensive program and imported the data into it.  There was not much I could do with it without a lot of effort but the output was quite readable.

Now to your suggestion, Les.  I have no interest in where non-forum members come from but if you want to do the work and collect the data I will put it into a program and present it for you.

Regards, Jack

Thanks for the very kind offer Jack but i will decline it.
I did start a list in 2016 that included all players who had revealed their location.
I have no clue how to determine if a registered player is also registered for the forum so creating a list of non forum members only, is just a little bit beyond my limited capabilities.

"  I have no interest in where non-forum members come from "

Ticklemonster is not included in your chart so i must assume that is because he is a non forum member.
Surely, it must have tweaked your interest just a little, when you learnt that he was auntiemo's better other half & your close neighbour?
