word suggestion from the Challenge Puzzle 5 January
« on: January 09, 2021, 04:27:05 AM »
I would like to suggest 'anted,' as in: The poker players all anted up before play started. (I wrote this sentence, it is not a quote from any other source. After the 'beclad' incident, I'm terrified to suggest anything!)

Dear Pat,

I remember trying it (probably a long time ago now), and being surprised that it was rare. I am feeling embarrassingly incompetent at this word suggestion thing. Will I ever get it right? Perhaps I should have suggested that it be made common. When I looked on the Word List, I did not see it. I apologize for my post.

It's still a rare word. No need to apologize but I can understand your embarrassment as I have in the past suggested a word for inclusion that was already accepted.   ;D ;D

Surely the best way to see if a word is acceptable is simply to play it?

Shoot,  Nine Oaks.  The ‘beclad incident” is one of the highlights of forum history. It yields recurrent giggles. Please do not stifle your talents.
