I've heard the word, but don't really know where I came across it.  Maybe in a description of a friend's prescription, which I read to make sure she's getting the right treatment?  Agree it's not common.

I agree. Acidosis means an abnormally high level of acidity in the blood. It appears mainly in specialist publications, including agricultural ones, since it can apparently be a problem in livestock, as well as in humans.

It will be rare in future.
