This was posted on Facebook - people who attempted it posted many different answers. Some even helpfully explained in detail how they arrived at their (incorrect) answer.

If you want to post your answer, don't give any clues as to how you solved it. It's not a trick question.

There are 2 parts to the exercise.

1
Careful observation of the actual question.

2
An understanding of fundamental arithmetic and the order of operators ( often called BODMAS ).
