Election Day 2020
« on: November 03, 2020, 06:21:36 PM »
Just get it right this time, please, USA.

We are all affected by what happens in your polling booths today.

The thought of Trump being reelected is absolutely terrifying.  I can't imagine that the next few days will pass without violence and bloodshed on the streets of America.

Why should the next few days be different to normal!

All peaceful as I was walking around today here in Brooklyn, New York.  I heard that the polling place a block or so from my home had no lines - I suspect because so many of us voted early or by mail-in ballots.

It will be a while before we know the results of the election, since so many people did vote by absentee (mail-in) ballot - there will be millions to count.

One of the best things about Chi is this forum and being able to reach out around the world. I really hope for peace and unity in America.

By refusing to accept his (almost inevitable) defeat, Trump is destroying any credibility the rest of the world might have in the US electoral system and in US democracy generally.

The man is an utter disgrace.

Surely the moronic Steve Bannon is also facing charges for inciting violence?

'Home of the brave....' is rapidly becoming 'Home of the bully' in the eyes of the rest of us.

Perhaps what's most worrying of all is that roughly 50% of those Americans who voted actually think that this narcissistic, misogynistic, racist, corrupt thug is a fit person to be president of the US.

Race still too close to call. There are still a lot of uncounted votes out there.

I'm afraid the cultural divide in the country is very, very deep and probably unbridgeable.

The 270 To Win site has projected Biden to win Pennsylvania which would make him president-elect.

Another news site, Vox has announced Biden as the winner.

Leave America? who would have him? Oh of course he will head to Scotland to play golf for all eternity. Previously I have been against breaking up the Union but if the great Nichola lets Trump in then I'll be first in the queue to vote for English independence.
