Cloistral common?

Found by only 27 of 336 players in yesterday's 10 letter puzzle.  It's certainly not common to me!

Yep it was the one common word I missed and I even checked how few had played it too! I don't think I ever would have come up with it. But I have heard of it, not sure I've ever used it.

It is a word which I would read without any stumbling, but cannot imagine using in conversation or writing.

Easy enough to deduce its meaning if one sees it in print, of course.

It's probably another one of those words -we have had a few examples in the past - which somehow managed to  squeeze its way into Chi's Common Lexis when the game was in its infancy but which has never seen the light of day since. As a result  its common status has never been called into question until now.

Yes, cloistral seems to be a fairly definite rare word. I found very few usage examples in the GLOWBE Corpus, and some of them were from a healthy eating site that was obviously trying to write about cholesterol.

It will be rare in future.
