Can you help?
« on: April 20, 2020, 10:02:34 AM »
Today's Challenge game reminded me about a poser for the Chi players - on the weekend my husband and I were playing a well known word game and he played a word which resulted in two words being made. Both words were questionable and I said I will challenge. He asked me "Which word will you challenge."  I said both, but is this allowed?
It didn't have a provision for this scenario in the rules I had in my game.
Does anyone know?
The first word was an accepted word, however the second wasn't.
So we played that he took his tiles off the board and forfeited his turn.

This is from the Wikipedia entry on Scrabble: (the bold and the underlining are mine)

'In the game of Scrabble, a challenge is the act of one player questioning the validity of one or more words formed by another player on the most recent turn. In a double challenge, if one or more of the challenged words is not in the agreed-upon dictionary or word source, the challenged player loses his turn. If all challenged words are acceptable, the challenger loses his turn.

Hope that clears things up, Jacki. It seems you were right and hubby was wrong.
