monism / monist
« on: April 18, 2020, 11:57:16 PM »
In the Standard Puzzle for Friday 17 April 2020, monism was rare, monist was common. Should they not be the same?

Indeed they should - both should be uncommon (imho).

TRex, I know you are one of those players who likes to try to get a rosette by  playing only common words.
You obviously made the right choice yesterday. Just out of curiosity, how did you know which one to choose?

I remembered monist was common. I wasn't certain about monism, but I kept it in mind as I added other words.

Yep I played both thinking if monist was common surely monism would be. Yes I agree they should both have the same status and I'd be leaning towards rare.

Given a choice between making monism common and making monist rare, the latter seems the obvious course. It will be done!
