Last nights ten letter STRUGGLING game

I was surprised that GLUG was a rare word. How often do you hear "Glug, glug, glug" when talking about pouring a drink? Well, daily in my house! I think it's a lot more common than SIRRAH!

Hi Jacki
I thought the same as you
Perhaps it is only an Australianism
Cheers

Thirded.

I don't think it's an Australianism. I spent the first 24 years of my life in England, and I'm fairly sure it was used there.

Definitely a real word - COD lists it as a verb [glugs, glugging, glugged ]and even gives an adjective gluggable!

Common? The jury is out.

Used in USA as well. ISTM there is a tendency to classify more slang-ish words as rare. I think that is appropriate since such words tend to be much rarer in written texts.
