Your Puzzles game 9K92GF

In this puzzle the word slippy is classed as uncommon - shouldn’t it be common? Is this another word that I’m unaware is UK-specific?

What does slippy mean? I've never heard of it.
Late blooming azaleas tricked by the warmer weather into flowering

I thought this had been raised before, but no.  It's not on the queried words list.  It's not a word I know; just slippery.

I find the Ngram viewer easier than anything else to check with. Slippy is far, far less common on that than e.g. osier which was made uncommon in May last year. Perhaps it's a regional word?

COD gives two meanings for it -
a) an informal version of slippery and
b) (look or be ) slippy (British, dated) -  be quick

Mike,

I guess the one I use is (a) - “Be careful on the garden path, it’s very wet and slippy.” I must be being more informal than I realised.

That is most definitely what I - and I suspect most others from my part of the world - would say.

Perhaps it is a 'Northern-Englishism'.

I think if I saw it written, I would assume it was a typo for slippery.
