genever - Dutch gin, mother's ruin etc. Most certainly not capitalized, according to COD.

I would concur. I didn't try it on this puzzle, but I did for an earlier one and was disappointed that it wasn't accepted.

Some people do write the word with a capital G, when referring to the gin. But many don't and dictionaries list it in all lower case, so I'll add it as a rare word.
