Most definitely, Pat.  And I really despair too, MK.
I'll sleep in my next life

I'd prefer to take the firearm away from the hunters and tell them if they really want to be sportsmen, they should hunt the lion with a six inch knife.

Firstly I heard that fishing was the sport with the most participants.

Returning to Jacki's original statement, according to World Atlas 2018, quoted in Wikipedia, the most popular sport in the world is association football (aka 'soccer' in some parts of the world) with 4 billion participants, followed by cricket (2.5 billion) and hockey /'field' hockey (2 billion).

Angling is not included in these statistics, since SportAccord (GAISF, the Global Association of International Sporting Federations) specifically excludes from its definition of 'sport' any activity which is 'harmful to any living creature'.

Whatever else they may be, "huntin', shootin' and fishin'" are not sports.

Does that mean Rugby League, Wrestling, Boxing and steeple-chasing are similarly excluded? ;D

I had not heard of Lambent and misread it as Lambert and my thoughts turned to the sheepish Lion.

I agree with the thrust of Pat's comments but being a timid soul, as most Aussies are, I might not be quite as extreme.
