We call it a 'barrel' where I come from   :D

My truth may not be your truth.  That makes neither of us right or wrong, only different.

Kegger is in a number of dictionaries. According to Merriam-Webster, "a party featuring one or more kegs of beer". And usage examples are not hard to find in US and Canadian publications. It will be added as a rare word.

I think a keg is smaller than a barrel.
Also, I tend to think of barrels, at least when used as containers for beer, being made of wood and kegs being made of metal.

A keg holds 15.5 imperial gallons. A typical beer barrel holds 36 imp gallons.
Handled a few of them when I worked in pubs, emptied a few as well. ;D
