I suspect that there was more work than Yelnats expected converting his previous quiz to handle the questions and answers I sent him.

It's just about done for you to preview. I've been a bit busy with other things, including 3 Chis per day, the Age Target puzzle, and 3 Spanish crosswords. And retirement isn't what it's cracked up to be. You never get a day off!

I know what you mean.  When I was working I could always find a little extra time but now I am retired I don't seem to have enough time to do all the things I want to do.

No problem about the quiz.  I'm just grateful for what you are doing.

Actually Pat, i do not enjoy typing at all, in fact i am renowned at work for coming up with all sorts of weird & wonderful excuses to avoid any task that involves a lot of typing, i've even been known to bribe fellow employees.
The bribe usually consists of a coffee, a treat from the snack machine or offering to shout all the drinks at one of our regular after work gatherings (everyone always promises not to talk about work but ineviably these get togethers always turn in to one big bitching session about people & problems at work.)
Mind you, the offer to shout the drinks was only ever made once because instead of ordering their normal beers, wine etc.. eveybody ( obviously in collaboration ) was suddenly ordering exotic cocktails & double spirits, which turned into a very expensine round to shout.

Jack, if Stan can come up with an automated quizz, then that would definitely be the way to go, also happy to go along wih all of your other suggestions but i think that i will wait & see how well received your quizz is before attempting one of my own.

The quiz to test your knowledge of Australian English Usage and Idiom to compare with the UK and USA quizzes will be published by Yelnats shortly

An additional gold star is awarded if you know the meaning of Zambuck aka Zambuk aka Zambuc without looking it up.

Let us know how you scored.

The quiz has been a collaborative effort.  Thanks go to:
  • Les303: for thinking of and promoting the concept.
  • Yelnats: for improving the text I sent him, particularly for providing advice on some terms which were too obscure, for providing innovative responses on the incorrect answers and, of course, for the technical expertise in producing the finished result.
  • Alan W: for allowing us to publish the quiz on the Lexigame website.

Regards, Jack

Some of us downtrodden Ozzies were crying into our beers that we weren't mentioned in this topic, so here is a quiz to test how un-Australian all you aliens are.

Avago...

Yelnats, I missed Pademelon.  I have heard the word before but don't recall the context.

Yelnats, I missed Pademelon.  I have heard the word before but don't recall the context.

At the last minute we removed a question about Zambuck, which it looks like it was the right decision as nobody has claimed the gold star.

We considered replacing the Pademelon question as also being too obscure, but we wanted to publish for the weekend and so let it go.  So 9/10 is a great score.

As is 8/10 for a NZer, Gromit.  I thought Zambuck might be better known in NZ than Oz because of their attendance at Rugby games.

Please keep the feedback coming!!
