Something here doesn't add up!!!  :-R :-R :-R

It looks better if you put a space before "link"

I didn't think it was necessary to state the obvious that the first two pictures are a compound homophone and therefore do not have to add up.  It's what they sound like, not what they spell like.  Of course, this would be different for a homophonograph. >:D

Hi Jack

Your rebus made perfect sense to me :)  Same as Carol - I sussed it but am missing picture 2.

My plan is to return after lunch

If life gives you lemons, add a large gin & some tonic...

Hi Carol and Pen,

I tried a number of combinations and the only one which wouldn't show the picture was Chrome running under windows.  I had no problems with Chrome on the iPad.

I know you don't need it but for others struggling the picture was a stylised RE. So the first word, John, is Every by pronouncing  EV RE.

I worked it out but thought I'd let you know the numbers didn't add up... :-P :-P :-P
The greenest watt ever produced is the one you never use. Playing as jk1956 & John is my name.
When we come out of the Covid-19 crisis, we need to make sure recovery efforts address the Climate Crisis (which can't be solved using social distancing!)

Thanks, but I should point out that the word count is not necessarily arithmetical but a logical aid to guide the solver.

Normally they do add up. If the numbers do not add up it means there is a letter or letters that are not pronounced in the whole word, there is an overlap, or I have made a mistake. :D

A classic example of pronunciation and spelling being at odds is Cholmondeley which would be pictured as Chum  lee so the description would be 12(#4  #3).

We have had numbers of overlaps eg. Churchill.   Church  Hill    9(#6  #4)

In the early days I used to point these out each time, but I  thought the conventions were now well understood.

I'm Back Jack

I'm fed & watered & just waiting for the clinic to get started.  I had a tricky morning but hoping for a better afternoon.

My easy little puzzle is an expression that Zoe used the other day ;D  Lucki next door was being a tinker & wouldn't give up a toy he'd found!

Please change the first letter of the third picture & the last letter of the name of the spy ;D

Kylie told me that Sheila & Blue were sitting in their living room discussing a Living Will.  Blue turned to Sheila & said "Just so as you know, I never want to live in a vegetative state, dependent on some machine and fluids from a bottle. If that ever happens, just pull the plug"
Sheila jumped up, unplugged the telly & threw out all the beer!"

Hi Jack

Our spell of lovely warm sunny weather has gone & it's quite chilly & drizzly here today :(  It looks like your wet weather is finally coming to an end.  I looked at the BOM & for this Friday it says 'shower or two'  Not sure why but that just tickled me

My rebus is a famous quote from a poem written in the 14th century.  it's a bit ambitious so I hope I can finish it by lunchtime ;D  It wont be difficult - once you've got the first word or two I suspect the rest will fall into place.

7 (#1 + #4 + #2) 4 3 2 3 5 4

Please change the third letter of picture three & lose the first letter of picture five.  Pictures four & eight are homophones.  You can substitute picture one with picture six if you want to. Please pretend it's all on one line.

It's still over an hour til lunch & I'm dreaming about my cheese & pickle sarnie :-H

If life gives you lemons, add a large gin & some tonic...

Hi Pen,

Sorry, I got distracted on another thread.  It sounds like we are both beset by precipitation.  The only difference is a matter of degrees. :D

I was envious of your long break and then I thought if I were to change my activity, I would have to work. >:D

Blue had a kid's meal at McDonald's yesterday.  His mother seemed pretty upset.

When you teach a wolf to meditate, does he become aware wolf?

Breaking News: Blue claims to have learnt to do Origami backwards.  More on this story as it unfolds.

My rebus is an idiom for the inexperienced.

Hi Moyra,

I suspect the emphasis is on the little.

Have you grown web feet yet?  I wear my floaties when I take Bonnie to the dog Park. :D

No webbing yet. Our front yard is so squelchy, I fear the postie might get bogged riding across the grass on his little motorbike. Hopefully, there will be a few sunny/breezy days to dry things out.

Hi Jack

I very much enjoyed your post when it finally arrived  >:D    No rain today so far.  Hope it stays that way.  Am I assuming that floaties are what we would call arm bands?

I'm not sure you'd find the time to go back to work!!

I haven't solved your rebus yet but I'll go back to it a little later.  My rebus is what I thought when I read the headlines about our chancellor this morning.

7 5 2 3 4

Character on the right in the first picture & pronounce it a bit like a cockney!  Please ignore Mr Redford in the last picture.

'I've really had it with my dog,' said Shelagh to her neighbour Ethel.
'He'll chase anyone on a bicycle.
Hmmm, that is a problem,' said Ethel.
'What are you thinking of doing about it?'
'Guess the only
answer is to confiscate his bike,' answered Shelagh"

Nearly time for lunch - cheese & coleslaw today :-H
