Hi Jack

Glad you got the patio done :)  I'm having a busy day today & like you am hoping for a quieter day tomorrow.  I think it's going to be roll on Friday

I got your rebus.  My is also a simple rebus.  It's a TV series from the 1970's - also shown on the BBC.

Hi Pen,
Bonnie was great at training last night.  I wish I could say the same but it was good to get home to a casserole and a bottle of red and I slept like a log.  Blue said that was appropriate.

Blue tried his hand in the window replacement business.  He claimed he specialises in pane management.  I said that was appropriate because he is a pain in the glass.

I asked Blue why he doesn’t play tennis.  He said, “Tennis players will never find true happiness because love means nothing to them”.

My rebus is a 1940s American western film starring a Tasmanian swashbuckler and a future US president. The film is critical of the abolitionist John Brown and his controversial campaign against slavery before the American Civil War. J.E.B. Stuart and George Armstrong Custer—who are depicted as friends from the same West Point graduating class—are featured in a subplot.

Hi Jack

Pleased that Bonnie was on her best behavior :)  I love the sound of the casserole & a bottle of red - even at this time of the morning >:D  I've got a ping curry when I finally get home this evening.

My rebus is a film from the late 50's & stars an actor who was in your film.  It was a B movie which barely scraped one & a half stars!

Please run the first 2 pictures into one another.  You're not interested in the people in the last picture.

Zen...or not
1. Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me alone.
2 The journey of a thousand miles begins with a broken fan belt or a punctured tyre.
3. It's always darkest before dawn, so if you're going to steal your neighbour's milk, that's the time to do it.
4. Don't be irreplaceable. If you can't be replaced, you can't be promoted.
5. Always remember that you're unique. Just like everyone else.
6. Never test the depth of the water with both feet.
7. If you think nobody cares if you're alive, try missing a couple of mortgage payments.
8. Before you criticise someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticise them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.
9. If at first you don't succeed...Skydiving is not for you.
10. Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

Leave you with some silly stuff ;D  It's getting very busy & noisy - can't hear myself think!

Hi Pen,

This lot is a bunch of cuties

I have been distracted today watching the lead-up to the Ryder Cup on TV.  I was most impressed by the speech and demeanour of the captain of the European Team, Padraig Harrington.  A more pleasant and nice man you couldn’t imagine but if you look into his eyes there is not a hint of weakness there.  It reminded me of a saying that is my rebus tonight.

Hi Jack

They are gorgeous :)

I love the Ryder Cup but not so much when it's on the other side of the Pond because of the time difference.  I always admired Padraig Harrington when he used to play - even if I couldn't pronounce his name

I'm going to attempt a film for my rebus.  It's from 2004.

You're not interested in the gent in the first picture but what he was in the TV programme.  A quite old fashioned English expression!
Last name of the actress please.  You could substitute the gent in the last picture with

That should distract you from the golf for five minutes & keep you out of mischief >:D

Cheeky.  It was a great rebus and very topical. It took me more than 5 minutes.  When I left the golf things were bad for us.  When I went back they were worse. We’ll be lucky to get out of this down 3-1..  I am recording it, so I must have the strength not to go back to watching it live and get some sleep because we are on “boy and dog” sitting duty later today (Saturday) and I won’t get the chance for a poppy nap.

When I say “we”, I am a European for the purposes of the Ryder cup.

That's me Jack  I'm glad you didn't solve it too quickly & glad you enjoyed it :)

I guessed you meant Europe when you said "we" before I even got to the bottom of your post!  I assumed you'd be an honorary European during the Ryder Cup!  Especially as Australia now participate in Eurovision >:D

Hi Pen,

I hope you remember that Blue and Sheila had a holiday in the UK some years ago.  Blue was told that Australians are looked down on as ockers over there and to get respect you had put on your best pommy posh accent, pretend that you are English and you’ll get respect.  Perhaps he should have been told it doesn’t always work in Scotland.
He was a keen golfer and so got golf whenever he could get a game. He was cupping his hand to scoop water from a Highland burn on the St Andrews course when a greenkeeper shouts, 'Dinnae drink tha waater! Et's foo ae coo's shite an pish!'

Blue replied: 'My Good fellow, I'm from England. Could you repeat that for me, in English!?'

The keeper replied: 'I said, use two hands - you'll spill less that way!'

I couldn’t get the third one until Blue told me to google Picard’s catchphrase.

I am bit tired today so I needed a stimulating rebus.  It is a controversial novel from the early 20th Century.

Hi Jack

I do remember that Blue & Sheila visited the UK.  Poor Blue always seems to be in some sort of trouble wherever in the world he is

I had to ask Zoe what Picard's catchphrase is & then I got it too :)

I think I've solved your rebus.  I've never read it but I hope it's not too stimulating  >:D

My rebus is the film Zoe & I watched last night.  I hope I'm not repeating myself!

Howdy Jack

It's a grey day here so far but the sun is trying it's best but not quite succeeding yet!

My rebus today is an LP from the 1970's

I'm sure I've used these before but they still tickle me ;D  They are exchanges between Qantas pilots & engineers.
Pilots: Number 3 engine missing. Engineers: Engine found on right wing after brief search.
Pilots: Aircraft handles funny. Engineers: Aircraft warned to straighten up, fly right, and be serious.
Pilots: Target radar hums. Engineers: Reprogrammed target radar with lyrics.
Pilots: Mouse in cockpit.  Engineers: Cat installed. And perhaps, the best Qantas joke...
Qantas Pilot: Noise coming from under instrument panel. Sounds like a midget pounding on something with a hammer. Engineers: Took hammer away from midget.

Nearly lunchtime :-H

Hi Pen,

Blue reads quite a lot.  Here are a couple of books I noticed in his bookcase

  • “How to Generate a Stable Income” by Horace Mannure.
  • “Wet Blankets” by I. P. Knightly
  • “Rattled Bones” by Iona Ford”.
  • ”Under the grandstand by Seymour Butz

I watched a Poirot episode this afternoon and its title was perfect for a rebus.  Cat among the Pigeons.  The only problem was when I checked you had posted it in February 2020.  So,

Something different in a rebus.  A double rebus. As a first one, I will make it super easy.

What word or phrase is represented by the following letters?:

O_ER_T_O_

The Answer is

1  8(#4  #4)  #9

A

Picture 2. The first word of a mathematical symbol.
