He was one of the most thoughtful & kindest people you could ever wish to meet.  The complete opposite of the people who inflicted those dreadful atrocities.

The more I read and think about those people who inflict dreadful atrocities on a mass scale, those people could be people just like you and me, if we had been brought up in a different culture and if the leaders with power over us had different principles to the leaders we have had.  It's a bit of a worry, Pen, given the drift of world leaders towards right wing extremism and no principles at all.  But luckily I am Australian so "She'll be right, mate". Or will it?

Blue told me not all construction work is equally enjoyable. For example, enlarging a drilled hole is boring, but fastening pieces of metal together is riveting.

Last night Blue had Himalayan rabbit stew for tea.  He found himalayan on the road.

My rebus today is a book written in the 1970s by an author I have used before.

Picture 4.  Homophonic verb.  Make a noun of it.

Still my favourite film of all time, Mike.

Certainly on my 'top ten' list.
However it will take something very very special to dislodge Don Corleone from the top spot that he has occupied for many years.

Do I get a bonus point for spotting the link between your rebus and mine?

Mike,

I would give you two bonus points because I did not notice the link at the time of posting although I did incidentally when writing them up.  Not a hare and tortoise story but two tortoise stories.  I will add that point to the write ups.

Hi Jack

I'm only firing on one cylinder today! A fly was in my bedroom at 4.30am - I couldn't swat it & it just kept on buzzing round my head >:(  I'm now in need of a pappy nap :-Y

I've sorted Mike's rebus (an excellent film) but am struggling with yours.  Might have to get Zoe on the job

My rebus is so simple you could solve it with your eyes closed >:D  It's one of a series of films.  This one was released in 1965.

I think Carry on Cowboy is still regarded as one of the best of the collection. Although its 'seaside postcard' humour is very British,
in fact it's a pretty good satire of all the Hollywood Western cliches.
I can remember watching this one at the cinema with some pals from Uni and I can still recall remarking on the fact that they seemed to be sailing fairly close to the wind having a main character named 'Knutt'!
I seem to remember the first 'four-letter word' in a film wasn't until a year later (Richard Burton in 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf')

My rebus offering today is a Burt Bacharach / Hal David song from that (for me) happy era. It was a hit for quite a few artists - Dionne Warwick and Sandie Shaw among them
eight words - 5/2/6/9/5/2/6/2

picture 3 - drop the first letter and make it plural
picture 8 - (for those who don't read music) - 'a drop of golden sun'

Hi Pen,
It’s “Victory in the Pacific” anniversary today.  But Blue has just arrived at the front door, so I’ll have no more to say about that.

I told Blue, I had to go to the local pathologist for a urine test.  Blue protested that would cost money and he could give me one for free.

These are his instructions:

Go to a tree trunk and take a piss.
  • If it attracts a lot of ants you have high glucose.
  • If it dries too fast you have high sodium.
  • If it smells like meat, you have high cholesterol.
  • If it stains the tree trunk bright yellow, you take too many Beroccas
  • If you forgot to open your pants to pee, Alzheimer’s.
  • If you had trouble aiming at the tree, Parkinson’s.
  • If nothing comes out, Prostrate enlargement.
  • If you couldn’t smell the pee, definitely COVID.

My rebus is a 1990s American romantic comedy-drama film with a fantastic cast.

Picture 1. Ditch the first two letters.
Picture 2. Two words so ignore the adjective.
Picture 3.  Drop the last letter

The extra height on two picture is just for clarity - not a clue.

The funniest thing about Blue's free urine test is that it actually works. :-L

Hi Jack

When I read that I can actually imagine Blue ringing your bell!  His urine test is very funny

I solved your rebus but Mike's has me baffled so far today ???

I was a little short of inspiration today.  My rebus is a hit record from the 1970's.

I suspect you're going to find this easy peasy!

I heard that by law you have to turn on your car lights when it's raining in Sweden…
How am I supposed to know when it's raining in Sweden?

A sheep in a swimsuit just drove past me...
It was a lamb bikini!

I heard on Radio National that that form of password - three unrelated words - is better than p@$sW0rD
