Hi Pen,

I had a quick look at Trent Bridge last night.  I saw the 7th and 8th Indian wickets fall and the next time I woke up the match had been abandoned for rain and the women’s cricket was on.  Anyway, the good news is it is not sure that you will need to be mourning yet.  Les will no doubt  have a view on that.

I found my rebus by Serendipity.  I went looking for a book with Dolphins in the title and came across a book published in 2000 (no dolphins in the title) that sounds intriguing.  An excerpt from a review is

That should get Mike’s attention.  Anyway here goes with a Book by Russel Like:

Hi Again, Pen,

I thought you might like a second ‘arf.

A psychiatrist and a proctologist opened an office in Spring Hill.  They asked Blue to make a sign for them.

Blue’s sign read “Odds & Ends Clinic”

The beautician and a urologist next door were so impressed they got Blue to do one for them.

It read, “Clip and Snip”.

I wanted to post a joke about sodium.  Blue said, “Na, most people won’t get it.  Instead, tell them that, the only person to get all their work done by Friday, was Robinson Crusoe".

Blue’s latest job is being a landscaper.  He loves his American Express card. He says "I never heave loam without it". He had to get rid of it, though, because he charged too mulch on it.

And I'll leave you with a little known bit of history.

Hi Jack

We had a very enjoyable day out yesterday.  We had a couple of short stoppages for rain then the heavens opened at about 5.30.  We did hang around for a little while as play was meant to carry on until 7 but the rain set in & the light was poor so we headed for home.  I'm keeping my black arm band handy   Root seems to be the only player capable of scoring any runs at the moment.  England have a slender lead of 57.  If they have a lot more rain delays then the match may be drawn possibly.

I enjoyed both rebuses :)  My rebus is a record released in 1983.

Written by an 18-year old girl, published in 1818 this classic gothic tale has been the inspiration for dozens of subsequent books and films - most of them dire!
But - what is its full title?

five words - 12/2/3/6/10

picture 6 - first three letters
picture 7 - last three letters
picture 8 - first three letters

Hi Pen,

Nanos gigantium humeris insidentes.  “What has that got to do with the price of eggs”, I hear you say. Well it led me to remember that its most familiar expression in English is by Isaac Newton in 1675: "If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of Giants."

The relevance of that is that when I am struggling for inspiration for a subject of a rebus, I look at what you and Mike have done recently and inspiration comes like a blinding light. So it was with Mike’s rebus this morning.  ;)

My Rebus is a 1950s American black-and-white 3D monster horror film.

I'll see if I can manage some humour later.  No promises.

Hi Again Pen,

I think the first one is a Gouda one

Blue: How much to buy a singing ensemble?
Me:  You mean a choir?
Blue:  Ok, smart-arse, how much to acquire a singing ensemble?

Me: How do you describe the people who voted in the last election and the people they voted into government?
Blue: It’s all about clothing. The people who voted don’t wear as much clothing or fancy clothing so we can call them the less ons. The people in government wear fancier clothing and more of it therefore we can call the people in government the more ons.

I’ll leave you with two for good luck.

Hi Jack

You would probably be more likely to hear me say "What's that got to do with the cost of kippers?"

I'm having a very busy day at work & this is the first chance I've had to relax & draw breath!  I thoroughly enjoyed your second post   I found both yours & Mike's rebus very clever & a bit tricky.  Mind you it doesn't help that I keep getting interrupted >:D

My rebus is a classic film from 1949.  Hoping I'm not repeating myself!

First 3 letters of picture three please.

I've just watched an interesting factual TV programme about a man who tries to hit insects with a rolled up newspaper...
It was a fly-on-the-wall documentary!

A grasshopper walks into a bar. The barman laughs and says, "Hey, we have a drink named after you!"
The grasshopper looks at the bartender, with a look of extreme confusion on his face, and says, "You have a drink called Steve?"

Leave you with a couple of silly pictures.  Not a patch on yours!

Only just over an hour to go ;D
If life gives you lemons, add a large gin & some tonic...

A Shakespearean couple who spend most of the first four acts slagging one another off, yet  finish up an item in Act V - as we always knew they would.
three words - 8/3/8

picture 1 - reverse the last two letters
picture 6 - the most famous of his profession - his first name will do

Scheiße, das war schwierig. Das esstzett war ein Ablenkungsmanöver.

A superb rebus.

I realised I had beta follow a different  logic or I would have made a complete dick of myself.

Hi Pen,

The second last one is a bit of irony while the last requires American pronunciation.

My rebus is about another Shakespearean couple who didn't get on at first, but because I found it too hard to picture the characters I am only after the title of the play.

Definite articles are not pictured.

Picture 2.  Remove the 1st and 3rd letters

I can see why you would find it difficult to picture the man's name!
The woman would be less of a problem.

Hi Jack

Thanks for that :)  I have to admit I was all at sea with Mike's rebus :laugh

I've come up with a rebus which I'm hoping hasn't been used before.
The word count is #3 #7 #2 #3 #3 but it's a say what you see if that makes sense.  Clear as mud  >:D
