I'm back Jack!

Clinic's not too busy yet - famous last words!

Was trying to think of the films I've really enjoyed in the last few years but the problem is there are quite a few & not all of them can be made into a rebus!
You wouldn't have much trouble finding this film with 5 letters >:D

Try this offering from 2002.  I loved this film :)
#5 #2 #2 #3 #3

Please remove the last letters from pictures two & four.
I suspect you'll find this far too easy peasy ;D

In America, you can drive for 4 hours and still be in the same part of the country...
In the UK however, you drive for 2 hours, the local accent has changed twice and bread rolls have a new name!

My friend has a bad habit of overdrawing her bank account.
One day before we went shopping, I complained about my lack of funds and moaned, “I'll have to use plastic.”
Unconcerned, she whipped out her checkbook, “That's okay, I’m using rubber.”

ps I meant to say your cartoons were cracking - especially the crows   Loved the masks!  Hope I'm not too disjointed but I had to keep leaving it & going back to it!

A bit of an epic today - three for the price of one!

Let's start with the bonus question:

These three very successful films from the mid-1950s have one significant feature in common.
What is it?

Film one- four words - 5/7/1/5
picture 1 - first two letters
picture 2 - first three letters
picture 3 - drop the fourth letter
picture 4 - a synonym
picture 6 - an anagram (there is only one)

Film two - one word - five letters

Film three- three words - 4/2/4
picture 3 - where? not who?

Remember - what do the three films have in common?

Hi Pen,

Mike’s bonus question gave me an idea for my rebus – a movie made 50 years after Mike’s trio and although the big star is English, it has 2 very talented antipodean actors in it.

I agree, Mike.

I think I agree with the final analysis in the Wiki article - choose a different book! Anne Frank’s Diary still captures hearts and minds. Although, I know someone who saw such a bad version of the play, when the soldiers arrived an audience member called out, ‘She’s in the attic!’

Sorry this is a random post, a bit stuck in the middle of things and not feeling technical enough to quote or split things up.
Wish I wasn’t playing on my phone - too tricky to get the rebuses - but thanks for posting them and cartoons, people!

Apparently this is the best joke ever:

Two hunters are out in the woods when one of them collapses. He’s not breathing and his eyes are glazed. The other guy whips out his cell phone and calls 911.

“I think my friend is dead!” he yells. “What can I do?”

The operator says, “Calm down. First, let’s make sure he’s dead.”

There’s a silence, then a shot. Back on the phone, the guy says, “OK, now what?”

G'day Jack

Thanks for printing a picture of one of my all time favourite non English cricketers.  Love that man ;)

My proper rebus is a 1968 film.

A 1971 British historical epic about a loving couple who came to a rather nasty end,
three words - 8/3/9

picture 1 - no final 's'
picture 7 - delete the final letter

Part II
An unpleasant character who was involved with the couple in the film and, like them, came to a nasty end.

one word - eight letters

picture 1 - delete the last letter
picture 2 - his surname

Hi Pen,

Bonnie is having a sleep-over at Coorparoo as we had our annual pest inspection and pest prevention treatment today.  June was surprised the treatment didn’t work on me.  :D  I am looking forward to a sleep-in tomorrow morning.

I am using Mike as the source of inspiration again and so will present two related rebuses. The definite article is not pictured in either rebus.

The first is a 1917 silent American historical drama film. The spelling of the last word is debatable.

3  #4  #2  3  9(#5  #3  1)

      S

Picture 2. First two letters.

The second is a British horror film which is largely fictionalised.

8(#4  #2  #2)  #3   #4

Hi Jack

I must agree with June - I'm quite surprised the treatment didn't work on you either >:D  Bet you're looking forward to a lie in :) :-Z

I've solved the second half of your rebus but not the first bit.  I will return to it later when I'm upstairs & it's a bit quieter.  I think I've got Mike's but I'm not 100% sure so I'll wait for your spoiler :)

I've moved into 1970's telly for my rebus.

#4 #5 6 (#3 + #3)

Please remove the last letter of the first & third pictures.

Getting busy so I'd better assume my alter ego

A 1925 silent Russian film which at the Brussels World Fair of 1958 was rated 'the greatest film of all time'.
The events that it depicts are not entirely unconnected with the topics of both Jack's and my rebuses yesterday.

three words - 3/10/8

picture 5 - cut the first and last letters
picture 6 - cut the last letter
