In a word - stunning.
Unfortunately, like the central character of the show, I have no head for heights, so I very much doubt if I could stand where he stood.

Hi Mike,

We have finished watching the first six series of The Brokenwood Mysteries on Foxtel.  Series 7 is available on Acorn but we would need to sign up for it and so will wait for Foxtel to acquire it.  I found the mystery storylines a bit thin but really enjoyed the characters so we are looking forward to series 7.  Thanks for the tip.

I have seen the ads for your rebus show on ABC Iview and will follow it up.  Who knows! we might even see Valerie in the background. :D
Regards, Jack

If you enjoyed 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest', I suspect you will enjoy this serial. They are very different in some ways, but do have a lot in common.
I won't say any more at the moment.
The rebus was actually more in the way of a plug for the prog. than a seriously puzzling puzzle.

Hi Pen,

I was reading A Promise of Ankles (44 Scotland Street Book 14) by Alexander McCall Smith when I got to this excerpt about a Shakespearean sonnet:

Quote
it’s one of the most beautiful of the sonnets – at least I think it is. It starts off:

That time of year thou mayst in me behold
When yellow leaves, or none or few, do hang
Upon those boughs which shake against the cold

And the next line is

#4 6(#4 #2)  #6  #5  4 3 #5  #5  #4
late the

Hints -
Picture 2 is singular.
Picture 4 is plural - the singers come from several groups.
Picture 8 is past tense.
Regards, Jack

I really like The Brokenwood Mysteries, Jack.  Dare I say the NZ equivalent of Midsomer Murders?  Inoffensive feel-good television.

Haha.  Me in the background?  Like MK, I do not like heights.  I call it a "rational" fear!

That bridge in Portugal, TRex, is absolutely terrifying!

I like the Brokenwood Mysteries too Val.  Similar to Midsomer though the body count tends to be lower & people tend to die in a less grizzly way   It is definitely inoffensive feel-good television. If you can get McDonald & Dodds that's worth a look too.

I'm terrified of heights & that bridge in Portugal gave me the collywobbles!  Like you it's a very rational fear.

Better try & get to grips with Jack's rebus :)

Hi Jack

No1 daughter & I have been out for a stroll & I've solved your very tricky rebus bar one word!  I will have another bash at it later & failing that will consult Ms Google.

I thought I might continue with the Shakespeare theme.  My rebus is the opening line of a very famous sonnet.

#5 #1 #7 #4 #2 #1 #6'1 #3

EA'S

Please change the middle letter of the first picture & picture 3 is a homophone.  I suspect you'll find this rather easy.

A soldier who was renting a house from me has done a runner owing me six months rent...
He told me he was a General but I've since discovered he's a Left Tenant!

A tramp knocked on the door of the local pub, the George and the Dragon. The landlady answered the door.
The tramp said, “Could you give a poor man something to eat?”
"No,” said the woman, slamming the door in his face.
He knocked again and said, “Could I have a word with George please?"

Need a cuppa :)

If life gives you lemons, add a large gin & some tonic...

Another poem, not a sonnet, published about sixty years after the death of Shakespeare, but probably written some time before that.
Its message is very much 'carpe diem'
Hint - the poet had a wonderful-sounding name.

four words; 2/3/3/8, but you only need the first three letters of the name of the animal in picture 3

SPOILER ALERT _ Mikes latest rebus

That was a great rebus.

We watched the first episode of the series you recommended.  It is well made and a high-quality production but I wouldn't describe it is as feelgood.  It took me a while to work out who were the staff and who were the patients.

He told me he was a General but I've since discovered he's a Left Tenant!

I had a whimsical thought, Pen, that if you had made him a yank soldier he could have scampered with all the furniture and been a Loot Tenant.

Dusty came over this morning and is going to sleep over.  At this stage, I am definitely in need of a cuppa but it needs to be filled with red wine.

The quote from 'Alice' which is used several times in the course of the film- 'We are all mad here' - reflects that.

Loved the 'Last Supper Selfie',

Hi Jack

I like your whimsical thought   Made me really chuckle over my morning cuppa!  Like Mike I loved the last selfie :)

I've just hung my washing on the line & my neighbour is mowing his lawn so I think it's fair to say it'll probably be raining before the hour's out :-R

I've got a quick & easy rebus before I have my lunch.  Egg & tomato sarnies :-H

You're not interested in the man in the first picture but what he was & please ignore the gent in the second picture.
Sorry I forgot to say it's a book published in the 1940's!
