Hi Pen,

What coloured hair this time, Pen?

The answer to my rebus is the name of a talented person and the honorary position title he held for 37 years in the middle of the last century.

Hi Jack

Very predictable I'm afraid   I should be brave & try something different!

Work's busier than I was expecting.  It's a beautiful day & I'm stuck in here :(  Your post cheered me up & your cartoons really tickled me

I enjoyed your previous rebus.  I occasionally watch the programme in your first picture - willing Richard to get the better of her!!

My rebus is a song that has had several reincarnations.  The most recent in 1982.

Hints.  You're not interested in who the rugby player is (though he was a legend) but who he's playing for.  The last picture is a homophone.

I've started using garlic in my magic act. First I start by crushing it, adding  basil and some pine nuts, and then I blend them altogether with some parmesan and olive oil...
Then, hey... pesto!

I was in the library and someone started throwing Stephen King novels at people...
I wondered why they were doing this, and then IT hit me!

I've just opened a can of worms.
They just sit there, the worms. Hardly the chaos that's been advertised!

Nearly lunchtime :-H  leave you with a few silly jokes. I shall apply myself to your rebus when I'm full of grub ;D
If life gives you lemons, add a large gin & some tonic...

I'm back Jack!

I got your very excellent rebus at the third time of asking :)  I got the second half & couldn't sort the first bit to start with!

Only a couple of hours to go then I can get out & enjoy the lovely sun.  Knowing my luck it'll be gone by the time I finish!

Hi Pen,

I'm just swigging down a quick coffee before taking the beast out for a walk.  That's not fair, because she's been really good lately.  It's just that I would have loved a really good sleep-in.

Weeheeheehee I got your rebus but I am not sure which of my rebuses you solved, the two picture one or the seven picture one or both.

Must rush

Hi Jack

I got them both :)  It's the American word for toilet that always flummoxes me - numpty!  You'd think I'd have learnt by now :-R

I'm a bit knacked after work yesterday :-Y  It's a lovely day here again & I've been for a walk in the woods & found some bluebells :)

My rebus is a poem by the subject of your last rebus!

Bobby: What is the difference between a lemon, an elephant, and a bag of cement?
Fred: I give up, what's the difference?
Bobby: You can squeeze a lemon, but you can't squeeze an elephant.
Fred: What about the bag of cement?
Bobby: I just threw that in to make it hard.

Must get the kettle on I need a cuppa ;D
Hope you get a lay in :)

A 1964 novel by Anthony Burgess about Shakespeare's (supposed) love-life takes its title from the opening line of one of his sonnets:

four words - 7/4/3/3

One of the words is a definite article which is not pictured in the rebus.

Hi Pen,

Just got time for a quick rebus.

A significant event in USA history in the second half of the 19th Century.

Hi Jack

Having a very manic Monday!  Don't seem to have drawn breath since before 8 this morning!

I've solved the beginning & end of your very sneaky rebus but I'm stuck on the middle bit   Will return to it later on - probably this evening the way things are going!  I can't get a handle on Mike's rebus at all yet.  Might need a small clue!

My rebus is a saying #3 #6 #2 #1  #6'1 6 (#4 + #2)

THEA'S
hint - second word of the group.

Shame I didn't go with it >:D

HI Mike,

I got most of your excellent rebus without the help of Google but couldn’t close it out without the help of Google.  I couldn’t get past not being able to interpret the second picture and my ignorance of Shakespeare’s sonnets.

I am a bit slow but it just occurred to me that people reading the word spoiler document should be able to add comments on the subject or difficulty of the rebus.

Give it a try.

Morning Jack

Another busy morning in the X-ray Department!

I didn't completely solve your very excellent & tricky rebus in the end :(  But I enjoyed reading the spoiler :)  I tried to add a comment but wasn't sure how.  Can I have idiots instructions please?

Fracture Clinic this afternoon so I'll be back!

I know, Miss!  How one member of this band is still alive and (barely) kicking is a mystery!!  >:D
