I dips me lid.

Thanks Jack.  I didn't set out to be sneaky so it's a bonus that I briefly flummoxed you

I think the answer to your last puzzle was Angels We Have Heard on High.

Mines another carol.  I was going to resist giving you a word count but I didn't want to throw you out of kilter >:D

What do you call a French guy being mauled by a lion...?
Claude!
My neighbour was going on a course & had to stay overnight in Manchester.  He 'phoned the hotel where he would be staying to ask if they had a gym.
The receptionist's voice had more than a tinge of exasperation in it when she answered.
Sir, this hotel has over 300 guests staying at the moment.  Does this Jim have a surname?

Hi Pen,

Good Morning from the Bonnie Dawn Patrol

I had to search field and fountain, moor and mountain to find the answer to your puzzle.  I would have had no chance without the word count.  I would have been chasing red herrings of identical triplets and le Roi Soleil

I will try to find one for you later today although I expect to be busy doing some Christmas shopping.

Regards, Jack

Oh Jack where's the fun without a red herring or two? >:D

In my funny little brain I actually thought I'd made it quite easy!!

I liked your pearls of wisdom :)

Here's a small offering before I give my little grey cell a small workout then I'm going to slump in my chair & watch a little toot telly!

Enjoy your Christmas shopping ;D

I totally agree with that sentiment but I like to know quickly if they are red herrings and I have to reorientate my thinking and look for a different line of thought.

I didn’t get around to thinking about a new puzzle.  I seemed to be kept busy on other things until bedtime.

Listening to the radio in bed I heard two naff jokes

A Christmas Carol

We three kings,
Wanted to drive a motor car.
Crash!!

We two kings,
Wanted to drive a motor car.
Crash!!

I am one king
Wanting to drive a motor car car
Crash!!

Silent Night

It took twenty years before they could manufacture a Barbie Doll that talked.  They have never managed to manufacture a Ken Doll who would listen.

We are off to Obedience School this morning.

A popular variation when I was in my teens was

'We four Beatles of Liverpool are
One in a taxi, one in a car
One on a scooter
Blowing the hooter
Following Ringo Starr'

Anyone else remember it?

And to think... in those days, some people called them 'scruffy'!!

Hi again Pen,

A simple little Challenge

The title of a book written by an author who has died recently.

Bonnie graduated Summa Cum Laude this morning.  My Latin is very rusty, so I interpreted it to mean she barked louder than the other dogs.  When we get the graduation photograph, I will post it.

Hi Jack

Well done Bonnie :)  I'm fairly sure your Latin translation is accurate   Look forward to the picture as always :)

I sussed your puzzle.  I looked at it earlier but this is the first chance I've had to respond.  Your third picture vanished but luckily I'd already solved it :)  RIP John le Carre.

My puzzle is a book by an author from across the pond.  It's one of his very early novels from 1994.  It's described as a techno-thriller!  Have no idea what that is ;D

I went out for a few drinks with some friends last night & came home a little worse for wear.  I didn't want to wake anybody up so I stuck two french pancakes on my feet & creped up the stairs!

I bought some Viagra tea bags for my elderly neighbour.  They haven't improved his sex life but at least they stop his biscuits from going soggy!

Leave you with a couple of daft jokes!

or more accurately dinner in this case!  Though some of us refer to dinner as tea

and in turn, refer to tea as cha.

Your author set off an earworm in my head of one of my favorite poems - I can only remember the first two verses

I had written him a letter which I had, for want of better
Knowledge, sent to where I met him down the Lachlan, years ago,
He was shearing when I knew him, so I sent the letter to him,
Just "on spec", addressed as follows, "Clancy, of The Overflow".

And an answer came directed in a writing unexpected,
(And I think the same was written with a thumb-nail dipped in tar)
Twas his shearing mate who wrote it, and verbatim I will quote it:
"Clancy's gone to Queensland droving, and we don't know where he are."

I've a busy day ahead but I will try to think up a puzzle as clever as yours.

To use one of Linda's favourite expressions - presactly!

Glad you enjoyed my puzzle - I thought you might find it a bit easy.

I liked the poem :)  You'll have to try & remember some more!

Hi Jack

Like you I've had a busy day.  Managed to get a lot done but feel a little knacked now :-Y

I'll have to see if I can come up with a tricky little puzzle for you when I'm slaving over a hot reception desk in the morning

Meanwhile...

Hi Pen,

You just beat me to the punch.

Photo as promised.

We should have been driving down to Coffs Harbour today to attend the wedding tomorrow of the guy who was our golfing companion for the last several years in Mittagong.  The outbreak of COVID in Sydney last week put the status of the Queensland border in question again for our return and so we pulled the plug yesterday and cancelled our accommodation.  The wedding is being recorded and we will watch it on Skype.

Hi Jack

Well it's Monday morning again already & here I am!  Loved the picture of Bonnie - she looks like butter wouldn't melt

I've come up with a little puzzle for you >:D  It's a crime & mystery novel.  Written by a well known British author but under a pseudonym.

Please name the book & author.

Apple announced today that it has developed a breast implant that can store and play music. The iBoob will cost from $499 to $699, depending upon cup and speaker size.
The developers are hailing this as a major social breakthrough, because woman are always complaining about men staring at their breasts and not listening to them.

Leave you with a silly joke ;D

Gee, Pen, I'd have to be Chief Inspector Wexford to work that one out.

I'll try to get you one off while I sit on the patio trying to persuade Bonnie not to bark and wake the neighbours.

It is an American police TV series of the 1970s.
