Hi Pen,

Thanks for the good wishes at the start of the day and the end of the day. And I appreciated you saved your best jokes and cartoons for the occasion.

I bet you will never guess who gave me this birthday card

Your puzzle: a queer (sorry, strange) mixture, 1st Earl of Leicester, and the Manassa Mauler, but they chose the right day to be born on.

I have just got home from a meal with June , Andrew, and my golfing buddy and his partner in the best restaurant in Bowral.  So although it is a couple of hours past my usual bedtime, I am at peace with the world.

The best birthday present today was the  news shortly after 5 pm that the cooling off period is over and the move is definitely  on.

I’ll try for a traditional post tomorrow.
Regards, Jack

Cake anybody?

The cake was magnificent although they didn't have one big enough to fit all the candles on but the Abelour A'Bunadh I am sipping on as a nightcap is even better.

Thanks for your best wishes.
Regards, Jack

Glad you had a smashing day Jack :)

My silly little puzzle was a bit weird but I knew you wouldn't really want to be bothered.  I just picked 2 random people who share your birthday - a small brainteaser!

I really love that birthday card ;)
Brilliant news about the move - as you say the best birthday present you could ask for :) :-)

Cake anybody?

Many happy returns of the day.  Have a great one.

Make me jealous by telling me what whisky you will be drinking tonight to celebrate.

Hi OzzyJack

Thanks.
Once one has had the honour of tasting and enjoying many of the standard single malts, one can progress to the rarer 'single casks'.

Tonight I will be enjoying a relatively young Glenlivet.
It was a single cask, bottled by Signatory, at the lazy strength of 66.3%.
One only needs a wee sip.

It was a sister cask to this one;
https://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/p/51103/glenlivet-2007-12-year-old-signatory-for-twe

In fact here is the listing for the exact one.
https://www.thewhiskycompany.com.au/product/2007-glenlivet-11-years-old-australian-exclusive-single-malt-scotch-whisky-signatory-vintage-700ml/
The Aussie distributor bought the entire cask.
I managed to score a few.
They don't call me 'lucky' without good reason.

Cheers

Hi Pen,

Me too

It was another busy day.  I haven't even got to do a chi game for a couple of days.

A quick puzzle.

The latest novel of one of my favourite authors.

Name the Author!

I'll leave you with some words of wisdom for you and other young folk on the forum.

I enjoyed your words of wisdom & loved your cartoons :)

I'm sitting in my living room with the curtains drawn & the fan on & it's still 82f :(  The heat has worn me out :-Y  I'm just glad it's friday tomorrow.  They're forecasting thunder storms so I may well be in the cupboard under the stairs

I managed to solve your puzzle :)  The author is Donna Leon.

I'm going to try & get a few words & then slump in my chair in front of the box!  Hopefully my little grey cell will be a bit more co-operative tomorrow

Many Happy Returns, Mike.  I hope you have a great day.

Hopefully, we'll soon have another thing in common - living in a warm climate.

Hi Jack

A great puzzle & your cartoons really tickled me

The author of the book in question is Scottish.  I have read one of his earlier books featuring Bruno.  I'm not sure why I haven't read any more as I did enjoy it!

My quick & easy puzzle is a book by an American author.  3# 4# 3# 3# 7#
The
For your bonus can you please name 2 actors who starred in the film of the book.

I'm going to melt into a puddle :(  We were supposed to get a thunderstorm at 3 but needless to say it didn't materialise! Much as I hate them we need one to clear the air.  Just getting hotter & hotter!  On the plus side I do have a bottle of pink plonk chilling in the fridge for Ron >:D

Meant to ask if you managed to sort out a decent removal firm?
