once I was young and poor but now I am no longer young.

Not looking so "poor" there, Gareth... It's terrible when people screw up the perfectly well constructed English language, innit???  :-R :-R :-R
The greenest watt ever produced is the one you never use. Playing as jk1956 & John is my name.
When we come out of the Covid-19 crisis, we need to make sure recovery efforts address the Climate Crisis (which can't be solved using social distancing!)

The only relevance of the cup is that it is Bronze.  You might get a clue on the 58 by my repeating part of the quote heading.  With good fortune, 59 will be 9 January 2024.

Hi Jack

Just gearing myself up for an afternoon on fracture clinic.  It's lovely knowing that when I go home later I don't have to come back until Monday morning :)

You've got me foxed - still haven't worked out the 58/59 puzzle  ???

My rebus is another film but I'm going back to the 1960's.  I've tried to make it a bit tricky but I suspect you'll find it easy peasy lemon squeezy

Not much to say apart from position is crucial and please ignore the dog in the first picture.

The other day I held a door open for a clown...
I thought it was a nice jester.

Hi Pen,

I just woke up.

I can’t keep you in suspenders any longer.  Think monkey suit and white dress and a church in 1965.

Glad to see you Ava go at John’s rebus and break through.

I’ll see if I can manage a proper post after breakfast.
Regards, Jack

I'd like to echo Moyra, happy anniversary!!!

Quite a feat these days... You're currently twice Sue and my effort but we'll hit 30 before you hit 60...  ;D ;D ;D Mayday, mayday, mayday...

Hi Moyra and John,

Thanks for the good wishes.  The feat was only possible because of June's extraordinary tolerance.  She has a lot to put up with. >:D

Hi Pen,

I was tempted to say I couldn't and leave it at that, but I’ll see if Blue can help me out.

Blue told me he realised that as an Australian, although we use metres and not feet, we still use the expression "wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole"

He said that what brought that to mind was that last night he was down at the pub where a guy with an American accent was  holding the floor.  “Call me a racist if you want, but south of the border is a sea of violence, corruption and stupidity I wouldn’t touch with a ten foot pole.  Thank God I'm Canadian.

So he moved to the next bar where he  overheard three very hefty women talking.  He thought their accent appeared to be Scottish, so he approached them and asked: "Hello, are you three sheilas from Scotland?"

One of them angrily screeched: "It's Wales, Wales you bloody idiot!"

So he apologized and replied: "I am so sorry. Are you three whales from Scotland?"

And that's the last thing he remembers.
Regards, Jack

Hi Jack and June

A very (belated) Happy Anniversary to you both :-*  I really should have sussed that!

I've had a very busy morning doing chores and shopping.  I'm just off to have a cuppa with Gill, an old work colleague from the X-ray Department  :)

Time I wasn't here - going to be late  :-C

Hi Pen, Gareth, and Paula,

Thanks for the good wishes.

With the family dispersed, we had a quiet and very pleasant day.

For the foodies, we had a special meal of smashed avocado, barbecued Atlantic salmon and cheesecake  with a sip or two of special wine.   Bonnie enjoyed a few special treats.
Regards, Jack
