a group who I loved at the time.

Hi Pen,

Another great tricky rebus.  I am assuming the group was named after one of our semi-regular contributors to the forum.

Before he met Sheila, Blue was a bit of a lad in the residential college of the local university.  On the first day, the Dean addressed the students, pointing out some of the rules:
The female dormitory will be out-of-bounds for all male students and the male dormitory for the female students. Anybody caught breaking this rule will be fined $20 the first time. Anybody caught breaking this rule the second time will be fined $60. Being caught a third time…will cost you $180. Are there any questions?
At this point, Blue asked “How much for a season ticket?”

Another idiom.  The phrase is speculated to have originated in the old American English but there is no literary proof to support this claim. Source: theidioms.com

Position is important.   One homophone.

Hi Jack

Thanks :) It feels like a Monday this morning  :(

You are correct in your assumption of course :)  Sadly the lead singer died in a car accident in 1977.  He was only 30.  The group broke up afterwards.

I have an answer to your tricky rebus but I'm not convinced I've got it right  ???  I shall return to it in between the (im)patient patients

I have an idea for a rebus but it'll have to keep until after lunch (Linda my sarnies today are egg bashed up with our favourite condiment & ham :-H)

My puzzle today is an LP released in the 1970's by a group who I loved at the time.

I don't believe it, Pen!  I was absolutely obsessed with the lead singer in this band and had his pictures all over my bedroom wall.  Went to see them in Manchester in the 70s and you could barely hear them over the screaming.  I had this album (probably still have somewhere) and played it over and over again.  Those were the days ....  >:D

Oh Linda yet another spooky coincidence which proves beyond any reasonable doubt that we were separated at birth
I never saw them live sadly.  I do remember a school friend who went to see David Cassidy (or was it Donny Osmond? I can't for the life of me remember!) & she said exactly the same.  You could barely hear anything for all the screaming.
They definitely were the days... >:D  Happy memories :)

I'm back Jack

Here's my rebus as promised. It's an expression attributed to an English author & poet from the 14th century.

You may find it a bit easy.  You're not interested in Jimmy.  You could use this instead...

Hi Pen,

For those south of the equator

Spring has sprung, the grass is ris,
I wonder where the boidies is
The boid is on the wing,
But that’s absoid
From what I hoid
The wing is on the boid!

for those north, prepare for a fall. :D

You wouldn't want to go to the second place without one.

Another idiom.  It doesn’t apply to you or me.

Two position words and an indefinite article are not pictured. Conceptionally on one line.
Frame 1.  Pick on of the three choices.

The greenest watt ever produced is the one you never use. Playing as jk1956 & John is my name.

Hi Jack

For those north of the equator  ;D

A cracking rebus - definitely doesn't apply to either of us

I've heard the expression les rosbifs used in a not very friendly way several times when I've been on holiday.  I think the French tend to look after their own people & interests first & foremost. Who can blame them?  It's a great pity our successive governments (on both sides of the political spectrum) haven't done the same.  They care about themselves & everybody on the planet except for us.  It's been the same for many many years.

It's Friday tomorrow & I'm

Hi Pen,

I am having a bit of a problem with your rebus.

I have a good answer if the positioning word is the last #2  and the count of the last word is 6.

Just having my morning cuppa & hoping it'll kick start my day :-Y
See you later :)

Pen, I'm more familiar with a slightly different version of your rebus, where the flying animal's environment is somewhat less appealing.

Yes I'm familiar with that version as well Rose
I thought this one might be slightly trickier. Rather unlikely I suspect! Although my naff word count didn't help!

Hi Jack

Hopefully it's as clear as mud now >:D
