This is in the nature of an experiment to see if I can actually put more than four pictures into a rebus.
You will find it very easy - the first Hercule Poirot novel

five words including a definite article which is not pictured - 3/10/6/2/6

Picture 6 - you should make it plural and ignore the spelling

Yes, it worked

Hi Jack

Happy Birthday to Bonnie :)  A cracking picture.

I'm on fire tdoay >:D  Got both rebuses & it's not yet half past nine!

My rebus is loosely connected to Mike's.  It's a song also from the 1970's.

Bonnie is looking most regal in her birthday pose. Wishing her (& Dusty?) a happy birthday and many treats!

Hi Paula,

Bonnie had a great day, as she always does, and she thanks you for your good wishes.  Dusty is out at the farm where he was born a year ago because his family is using the school holidays to tour North and Central Qld.  One of the other siblings is also out there for the school holidays and I understand they were having a little party to celebrate.  No doubt Dusty and Bonnie will have a lot to talk about when they get together next week.

Another song, another classic;
from a 1986 album that redefined the word 'bestseller'

five words - 3/3/4/2/2

picture 1 - only the big beast
picture 2 - the first half of the word is enough

Hi Pen,
Only time for a quiche. My rebus is a punny joke

Conceptually one line.

I enjoyed your rebus Mike.  It foxed me to start with but I sussed it in the end.  Very clever :)

Hi Jack

I had a good old wrestle with your clever rebus but I got there in the end

I was a bit short of bright ideas after yours & Mike's cracking efforts!  My rebus is a film from the 1960's.  Hope to goodness I haven't used it before.

I was looking for an excuse to use a cute pussy cat >:D (sorry Bonnie!)

Leave you with a few silly bits & pieces ;D  The last one will pass you by but it just tickled me.

It's getting busy so I'd better scarper!

What do they say about great minds?
Believe it or not, I had intended my rebus today to be the same as Pen's from yesterday! (Steve McQueen, Pierce Brosnan, Faye Dunaway etc)
Never mind! It will keep for another day.

For today, you are looking for the name of an English TV personality, (1923- 2020).

two words = 8/7

picture 1 - you don't need an 's'
picture 3 - 'Fore!'

Hi Mike,

I couldn't get it by fair means.  A cleverly constructed rebus.  I'll save a little pride by noting I had never heard of the person.  Did anybody solve it without using google?

I got the answer to Mike's last rebus without the aid of Google, Jack, but I did grow up in the UK and he was on TV all the time, doing the 'straight man' to perfection for a long list of comedians.

I promise I will give you something a bit 'Ozzier' tomorrow, Jack.

 ;D

I use Google and Wiki regularly, but basically to confirm or deny what I've worked out; in much the same way I use my dictionaries to confirm spellings in the word games.
