Pen
My Latin message to Jack was an acknowledgment of the clue contained in  his very cunning use of the phrase 'carpe diem.
'Seize the day - the date yesterday being July 4th and his rebus being 'Born on the Fourth of July'!

What I wrote in Latin translates roughly as 'I have seized the day - I have the answer'.

Pen,
and my response Ego credidi, quia tu solvit dubitationem, according to two online translators was I believed that you would solve the problem.  A third which I just tried, came up with I believed that you paid uncertainty.

You can great fun with some online translators.  You reverse the direction and put the result in as the text to be translated and repeat this several times.  It is like Chinese Whispers.  With each iteration, you get further away from the original text.

A 1980 biopic movie,

three words - 1/10/8, (alternatively 1/4/6/8)

You will need to add an apostrophe in the appropriate place
picture 2 - you only need the first syllable

Mike,

I can only come up with an answer if I don’t use the first picture and the indefinite article.

I think I've boobed here, Jack.
A check on IMDb shows the film title without the article. I'll amend it.

This is a modified version.
The title of the film is as it is shown on IMDb

three words -4/6/8

Picture 1 - use only the first syllable
Please insert an apostrophe in the appropriate place

Sorry

Hi Pen,
Not all stories of the aftermath of war and conquest are sad.  The answer to my rebus today is a poem at the end of a story of events post-1066 in a well-known book.  In this story, it is the arrows of cupid that win the day.

The Poem:  #3  #7’1  #5

  ’s

The Book:  #4  2   4(#2  #2)’1   #4

of ’s

Some hints if you are stuck

P.S.  In a final check, I discovered the last word in the poem's name should have been "song" rather than the word I set.  Sorry for the factual error but I don't think it ruins the rebus, so I am not going back to correct it.

Hi Jack

I thought I'd solved the poem quite quickly but when I checked with Ms Google it turned out I hadn't!  However I then looked at your post again & saw the ps & then I got it!
I got the book at the second attempt :)  Mike's rebus took me a little longer as I had a mental block on the last picture

My rebus is an historical site & a poem.

8 (#3 + #3 +#2) #6

Please remove the first letter of the third picture.

Think you'll find this easy peasy squeezy lemon ;D

No 'dogs of onion', I'm afraid,  ;D, but I do have the title track from a 1970 album by a man who went on to become a rock legend.

four words - 5/3/4/4

picture 1 - lose the first letter
picture 2 - lose the first three letters

Hi Pen,

Empress Bonnie sends her best wishes on the occasion of her first birthday

The rebus today is the movie I chose especially for her.

#6  #3   5(#3  #2)

Picture 2.  Surname from the left.
Picture 3.  From the left again
Picture 4.  Take your pick

How very disappointing Mike
Sorry but you were never going to catch me out with this rebus!  Played this fantastic album to death when I was at school & beyond   A true legend :)
