Hi Pen,

Yesterday wasn’t my best day ever.

I felt like going back to bed for the day.  I put it down to a side effect of the jab on Wednesday and, thankfully, I am feeling a bit better this morning.

Soon after we get back from the morning dog walk and breakfast, I am going out to the airport to do a little plane spotting.  So it might be afternoon before I get to doing the spoiler alerts on a couple of very good, but manageable, rebuseses.
Regards, Jack

Hi Jack

Sorry you were feeling rotten but glad you're feeling a little better now.  Zoe had a bad reaction to her second jab.  She woke in the middle of the night with horrible flu like symptoms.  Thankfully by tea time she was feeling almost normal again.  She said it was a small price to pay.  It was odd though as she had no side effects from the first one.

I've had a busy & enjoyable day off & am girding my loins for work in the morning.  We have salmon en croute in the oven which I'm very much looking forward to & I thought I'd do a quick post while it's cooking :-H

Hope you enjoyed your plane spotting :)

Grubs up!  Apologies for being about 8/10 on the naff index but I'm hungry >:D

This one is not too hard, although some of the characters in the film were. Very hard!

A 1998 British comedy thriller which made instant stars of a number of previously unknown actors

six words including 'and' which is not pictured - 4/5/3/3/7/7

SPOILER ALERT – Mike’s Rebus

Hi Pen,

You would have guessed the reason I was planespotting yesterday was that I was out at the airport to pick up Andrew.  We had a big day shopping.  We had a great dinner and it was good to reinstitute the custom of a glass of a single malt nightcap    It was the first I had had for four months.

I have had a quiet day today and am feeling my usual self.  I am engrossed in Martin Walker’s latest novel The Coldest Case.  I had begun to think that as the series went on, the stories were beginning to lose some of their original charm but this one is as good if not better than the early novels.

Tonight is a quiet fillet roast at home but tomorrow night is a dinner with all the family at Coorparoo and we are staying over for breakfast on Monday morning.

Have a great day at work today.

You might want to check the title, Jack,
It's correct, of course, on the next line.

Hi Jack

I did think it was funny that you hadn't mentioned plane spotting as a hobby before >:D  About an hour later the penny dropped!!

Glad to hear that your feeling well & back to your normal self :)

Work is very busy but at least the time is whizzing by.  I'll probably take some time to finish this post but it keeps me out of mischief between hobbling patients

My rebus is a film from 1978.  Probably a bit too easy!

Nearly lunchtime :-H   I'd swap my cheese & tomato sarnie for your fillet roast!  Enjoy your family get together tomorrow :)

This  'Essex Girl' (although without any of the negative connotations of that unfortunate phrase) is known as an actress, singer and comedian. Her parts range from satire - a ground-breaking 1960s BBC show - to a very long-running US sitcom.

two words, 9/6

This  'Essex Girl'

A great rebus Mike.  I'd totally forgotten she was Gertrude Moon!  Frasier is one of the few American sitcoms I love.  Happy to watch the repeats.
I've seen this umpteen times & it always makes me laugh.

Hi Jack

I enjoyed your quickie  It's a beautiful day here.  Makes up for all that rain we've had lately!  Wonder if summer has finally arrived.  Knowing our weather it'll probably be snowing next week >:D

My simple rebus is a book of poems by a lady from across the pond (not the USA!)  published in 1995.

The first picture is a homophone.  You're looking for the character in the last picture.

SPOILER ALERT – Pen’s rebus

Hi Pen,

You and Mike have been turning out such great rebuses that I have some apprehension about taking up the cudgel.

My rebus has as it’s subject a WWII song which inspired a 1970s heist movie.

Hi Jack

A great rebus & your apprehension was unfounded :)

We played that song at my Mum's funeral.  I think she was 18 or 19 when she joined the Women's Land Army during WWII.

I've cheated & taken inspiration from you for my puzzle.  Another WWII song!
