Does that mean people get paid for calling him weird?  :D

Looks like your weather has marginally improved – pity you have to work.

I know what you are thinking.  You are thinking he hasn’t got a bloody clue about what to write tonight.

Oh Jack I'm a bit slow on the uptake today :-R  Took me ages to get your pun!

I very much enjoyed your post :) & I didn't think you were clueless. My Dad had (another) favourite expression.  "You know what thought did!"  No idea what on earth it means!!  We've gone a bit highbrow with the poetry :)  Probably why there's no sign of Les >:D

It's a beautiful afternoon :) I have another hour & a bit & I can get out & enjoy it!  It's been quite busy which has made the time fly!

Nearly home time :-)

"You know what thought did!"

Pen, my mother had a slightly longer version, which may shed some light: "You know what thought did. And then he only thought he did."

Seems many wise Mums had a variation on a theme. Mine used to say “ You know what Thought did! Thought he had but he hadn’t”

Hi Jack,
I'd love to have a cuppa with you and June in Redlands one day.
Moyra.

When Bonnie is settled we must make that happen.  Part of her socialisation will be to meet nice people.

Our family version was "you know what thought did? Thought wrong!"

No, Pen, it even found it's way to the antipodes but in a bit cruder version. Paraphrased it went something like this.

You know what thought did.  He thought he had fouled his pants.  But he only thought he had.

Still when I grew older I learnt another saying: "If you're over 65, never trust a fart"

I don’t think the poetry has silenced Les, Pen, in fact he is a closet culture vulture.  I think all the rosettes he has been getting lately has worn him out.

Taaffiete have come up with some more photos at last.  The Caption:"Less than a week until they leave  They all sit and ask nicely for their dinner now and even sit and pose for photos! Such good babies ."

Hi Jack

Just girding my loins for a busy afternoon amongst the broken bones.

Isn't it funny how these expressions travel & change slightly?

Les is so busy earning rosettes that he's neglecting us now >:D

I love the pictures :-*  Madame Zelda still looks ready for some mischief   Only 5 days to go now.

I was wondering how I could attract Les' attention...

wonder if these might do the trick? >:D

An elderly gentleman finally achieved his lifelong ambition and bought a race horse. But it didn’t seem to have much energy, so the old man got the vet in to look at him.
“This horse is very old,” said the vet.
“But will I be able to race him?” asked the old man.
“I expect so,” replied the vet. “And you’ll probably win.”

Jack, did i ever tell you about the one & only racehorse that i ever owned.
She was actually given to me for free because she was old & slow & nobody else wanted her.
But i didn't care, i treated her like a pet & even set up an old black & white television for her in her stable so that she could watch her favourite TV show which of course was Neighbours.
When the vet visited to give her a check up, i asked him if there was any chance that i could ever race her again.
His response was ; Yes, i can't see any reason why you should not race her again, in fact you would probably win.

Hi Les,

Have you heard the expression "Lies, damned lies, and statistics".

I have attached a screenshot of yesterday’s standard results.  There are others but I am too lazy to chase them up.

An elderly gentleman finally achieved his lifelong ambition and bought a racehorse. But it didn’t seem to have much energy, so the old man got the vet in to look at him.
“This horse is very old,” said the vet.
“But will I be able to race him?” asked the old man.
“I expect so,” replied the vet. “And you’ll probably win.”

Now we know who that elderly gentleman was. >:D

Hi Pen,

You might think this is a lot of bull, but the Redlands Meat Hall is the best butcher we have come across here yet.  So unobtrusive, too.

I took a photo but it wasn't as good as those ones.

The stats haven't yet been updated for August puzzles. They cover the year to 31 July. I'll update them with the latest month's info in the next couple of days.

Thanks Alan, stats aren't overly important to me but it is nice to be able to track my own improvement ( or otherwise ) especially after having not played at all for a couple of years & besides i have ozzyjack keeping an eye on my progress.
I still have to hit the refresh button every time i read a post & my page is all out of wack.
I have to blow up my pages too see what i am doing but they marginally overlap if you understand what i mean.
I know it is nothing to do with your brilliant site but rather a problem on my end so any ideas on how to fix these minor but annoying issues would be much appreciated.
