Today's puzzle will be fairly easy I suspect.  I've got my orders to be up at Barbs' for 11 or just after!  This is something that took place in June 1943.

Another great rebus, Pen.The name is no longer elevant since they changed the packaging of wine.  An interesting piece of trivia. The only casualty suffered by the Allies during the ... occupation occurred when an unlucky corporal of the 2nd Sherwood Foresters was kicked in the head by a mule and perished.

My rebus is a model village in an English County of note that that was built in the 1920s at a scale of one inch to one foot. It portrays aspects of England mostly dating from the 1930s and contains several fictitious villages featuring replicas of notable local buildings. The model railway has almost 10 scale miles (400 m) of tracks and a 7 1/4 in gauge railway was opened to transport visitors.

9 (#3 2 #4)

Remove the third letter in the first picture.  Position is essential

Thanks Jack - back at you  :)  That was a clever rebus and devious enough to take a couple of attempts. It kept me out of mischief for quite a while!

There is an episode of the series that Linda and I love called Small Mercies If you watch it you'll spot the subject of your rebus  :)
Hopefully I'm not giving anything away as I'm not revealing the name!   Did you already know that by any chance?  >:D

Hi Jack

I've walked to the Co-op and got my paper.  The sun came out for a few minutes which was lovely.  Haven't seen much of it just lately!

I'm sort of sticking with the theme today.  My rebus is a song which was popular in the 1940's.

Please use three consecutive letters from the first name of the lady in picture one.  Any one of the four in picture two might be your favourite... (6 letters.)  Mine would be a glass of pink muck  >:D  Please lose the first letter and then change the vowel at the beginning. You need to change the first letter of picture four and lob in an apostrophe. (you know how much I love an apostrophe )  Position is of the utmost importance.

I bumped into a very dishy man in Sainsbury's car park and he asked for my phone number...

and my insurance details!

Nearly lunchtime :-H  Leave you with a very naff joke  ;D

If life gives you lemons, add a large gin & some tonic...

I thought I'd do a quick entry into the competition for the easiest peasiest rebus ever

Hi Pen,

You've come up with another cracking rebus.  Sir Isac Newton would be looking down at you with approval.  I wonder if the Andrews Sisters were also fans of his.  I found it quite difficult.

I've decided to challenge you for the other end of the spectrum on your (and Linda's ) home ground.  I watched an episode of your favourite series tonight.  I enjoyed it but I would have enjoyed it twice as much if it had been edited to half the length,  I particularly enjoyed Tom and Ben being together.

Hi Again Jack

I loved your rebus but it didn't take me too long to solve  :) I'm pleased to hear you half enjoyed the one you watched   The earlier episodes with Gavin Troy and Ben are the best ones.  If you can watch them without adverts they're only an hour and a half long.  Linda's very quiet at the moment.  I do hope all is well with her.

I've got company this evening and it's not Zoe!  Andy and Jan are off to the Stables this evening and they're bringing Lucki round in a little while.  It's nearly bonfire night and also diwali so the fireworks are going bonkers.  He hates them and gets very stressed  :(
So he's keeping me company for a while  :)

If life gives you lemons, add a large gin & some tonic...

I'm fine thanks, Pen.  Just been busy recently and not got round to posting my usual drivel!  A dull day here with not even the hope of a ray of sunshine so will start tackling tasks that I've been putting off for ages (if I can be bothered).  Think I might start with putting away all my summer clothes and bringing in the autumnal/winter items - at least I've got my Sainsbury's boots at the ready!

Chicken and roasties tonight so just a light (boring) lunch today!  >:D

Hi Jack

Yet another grey day here  :(  I'm beginning to sound like a cracked record! I thought I'd do a quick post and, hopefully, when I'm finished the sun will appear. Oh and that pig's just flown past the window

My rebus is something that happened about six hundred odd years ago.

Please use three consecutive letters from picture one and the middle two letters of picture three. You need to change the first letter of picture two.  Please think a bit laterally with picture four and pretend it's all on one line.

That's all from me.  I'm going for a walk then popping next door for a cuppa.

Smashing to hear from you Linda  :)  Think you'll be glad of the Sainsbury's boots the way the weather's looking.

I've got ham and egg bashed up with our favourite condiment in my sarnies.  I've got an M&S version of your tea!  A yorkshire pud filled with chicken, stuffing and little roasties. Very nice but not a patch on the real thing!

My bet is that you've abandoned the boring jobs and settled down in front of the telly  >:D

You know me too well, Pen!  Flicked a duster around, made an attempt to sort out some cupboards and then settled down to watch a Poirot before chicken and roasties for tea.  Can't over exert yourself at my age!!  >:D

Couldn't agree with you more Linda!  Any sort of exertion at our age is extremely dangerous  - particularly if it involves any sort of household chores   >:D

Hi Pen.

Since I withdrew from Foxtel, our internet content has been channelled through Apple TV.   Yesterday without explanation they closed downdown my membeship.  I spent 2 hours on the phone to Apple yesterday and 4.5 hours today and my mind is frazzled.  I have fallen behind the pack on my german lessons.

I had a quick look at your rebus and couldn't make any progress at all.  Did anybody solve it?

I need a good night's sleep.

Hi Jack

That sounds unbearably frustrating  >:(  Like banging your head on a brick wall.

It probably didn't help that one of the pictures from my rebus had vanished over night.  I have replaced it with a different one.

I'll make a clue out of today's puzzle to try and point you in the right direction.  Hopefully I'll get it finished in time.  It's a little bit of the Bard

#4 #4 4 (#2 + #2) #3 #6

Please re-arrange the letters in picture one.  Lose the first letter of picture three and use three consecutive letters from picture five. Please bung an extra letter into position two of picture six.  One from near the end of the alphabet.  One homophone and we're all on one line.  Hope I don't have any more disappearing pictures.

All done with time to spare!  Wonders will never cease and miracles do happen!  Hopefully Tueday will be kinder to you  :)
This tickled me  ;D

Hi Pen,

Alles ist Klar.

Can I make a humble suggestion for a fairer clue to the first rebus.

"Please use three consecutive letters from picture one. Replace the first letter of picture 2 with the letter that immediately proceeds it in the alphabet.  Use the middle two letters of picture three.  Please think a bit laterally with picture four, noting that it is two words.  You need the third word of the formal title of Picture 5 even though Rumpole knows it as something else.  Please pretend it's all on one line."

I would be happy to take comments from the peanut gallery that that makes it too easy peasy.

I think your suggestions make perfect sense Jack.  I probably should have been a bit more generous with my hints or put a bit more thought into it!

I've just spent three quarters of an hour sorting out the renewal of my car insurance.  I saved myself quite a few bob so it was time well spent.

I loved the Pickles.  Hilarious - made me howl with laughter

Going to conk out in my comfy chair now  :-Y
