Another good episode, Pen.  I especially like the name of the cat!  >:D

It's one of my favourite episodes Linda.  I'm afraid I have a bit of a soft spot for Hugh Bonneville!! I'd forgotten about Spitfire   A great name for the cat!

Emma's cat Tiddles is a cutie.

I have to be honest Jack.  I don't remember Tiddles  ???  I might have to watch it again to jog my memory!

Hi Pen,

I have egg on my face.  I got it wrong.  I think you will find when you watch it again that there are four scenes in the episode with a cat in it.  2 of them name Spitfire as the cat, another one names the cat but I can't remember the name but it wasn't Tiddles and the fourth one is a cat performing a hissy fit towards the end when it is disturbed and is not named.

Hi again, Pen.

My rebus today is an idiom that first appeared in print in Beaumont and Fletcher’s tragic/comic play Philaster, or Love Lies a-Bleeding in 1611. The expression likely existed colloquially before that date.

Word1 (3).  The first letters of Picture 1 (7).
Word 2 (5). The four-legged one in picture 2.
Word 3 (4). The first letters of Picture 3 (7).
Word 4 (3).  Same as word 1.
Word 5 ( 8 ).
Component 1 (4). The female in Picture 4.
Component 2 (4).  Use the first letters of the first word in Picture 5 (7,5) then replace the first letter with “M”

And I’ll leave you with

Regards, Jack

Have we all got our wires crossed here or am I just being incredibly thick?
I don't remember a Spitfire or a Tiddles but the cat I was referring to was Clapper.
Have I got the wrong episode?  Daren't tell you what episode I thought it was in case the Spoiler Police come down on me like a ton of bricks!
Hugh Bonneville was in the episode I'm thinking of as was Gwen Taylor.
Over to you Pen .....  >:D

Sorry Linda we haven't got our wires crossed - and you're not being thick   I'm just mildly confused! We've got the right episode with Hugh Bonneville and Gwen Taylor.  Uncle Reggie's cat was Spitfire but I completely forgot about Fogden's cat Clapper.  I also forgot about the horse that won - Ring-a-Ding was it?   I'm going to have to watch it again!
I think we'll blame Jack for introducing Tiddles into the conversation   >:D

Is it work for you today? :(

Phew!  I thought I was going mad!  Can't recall Spitfire but the horse was Ring-A-Ding.  Not a Tiddles to be seen.  :)

I see that there is a new Midsomer on tonight which I'll record for another night.  Let's hope it's an improvement on the recent episodes.  Surely has to be?

Yes, off to work for an onerous four hours today. I think it might thunder later on as it's very humid and grey here today - here's hoping!  If we lose electricity I won't be able to use my computer, which will be a shame, but then again I won't be able to make coffee either!  Double-edged sword!  >:D

You're definitely not going mad  :)

Eve just reminded me about the new Midsomer later.  Like you I'll record it for another day.  The last couple of episodes have been quite naff which is a real shame.  Lets hope for better this time.

It's the same here - very grey and rainy and humid.  If you have a power cut you might get sent home early!  Hope you're not in for any head pecking this afternoon  >:D

Hi Again Jack

That was a very clever sneaky rebus   I have got an answer but am not 100% sure it's right.  I'll check it again later and consult Ms Google.

You're in good company - I didn't remember Clapper either

It's just a fleeting visit from me today as it's been rather busy.  I'm looking forward to going home time and a cuppa.

That's all I've got time for  :)

Hi Pen,

My fault is less forgiveable because I had forgot it by the time I got to the end of the episode and I was damned if I was going to watch the episode again just to be reminded.  I did remember as soon as Linda mentioned it.

Hi again, Pen.

My rebus today is an idiom that one source claims dates back to the 1680s and has its origins in a fable of the time. The moral of the story is to fulfill your obligations or face the consequences. You get your bonus point by naming the fable.  Another source claims that it is an allusion to a phrase in the Gospel of Mathew.  You get a golden bonus point if you can quote the biblical reference.

Word 1 (2).  Use the first letters of Picture 1 (4)
Word 2 (5).  Picture 2.
Word 3 (3).  Discard the first two letters of Picture 3.
Word 4 (3).  Picture 4.
Word 5 (3).  Picture 5.
Word 6 (5).  Picture 6.

And I'll leave you with

Regards, Jack

Quite a bit of pecking and no thunder but at least I could keep up my caffeine addiction!

Glad we've sorted out the Midsomer cats between us.  If it ever crops up as a quiz question we'll be sorted!

Beautiful sunny day here and I will be slogging away over a hot computer all afternoon.  Very few actual letters typed now as mainly emails, which I think is a pity.  Quite satisfying to see a well set out letter - what a nerd I am turning into!!

Already planning my tuna, fave condiment and spring onion lunch time sarnie which I have to eat around 11 as I'm in at 12.  More than a bit peckish by the time I get back home,   >:D

That's a relief Linda.  We can all have Midsomer Cats as our specialist subject on Mastermind   >:D

It's a lovely day here too Linda.  I was in an office which does have a window but it's so near another building I couldn't see the sun.  Got halfway through responding to your post and all the power went in the building (some numpty turned the wrong switch off!) so I'm back on reception now.  Still can't see the sunshine.

We're both nerds!  I totally agree with you about a decent letter - tops an e-mail any day.

My lunch is at 12 today.  Cheese and coleslaw made in a hurry - not a patch on tuna, spring onion with our favourite condiment.  If I was lunching at 11 like you I'd be famished by the time I got home as well!!

Hi Jack

My compliments on another corker  :)  I'm not sure if I've got it right but my offering for the bonus point is...

I failed in my attempt to earn a golden point.  I'll have another bash at it later.

My rebus is a comment I just made to my colleage after a patient offered a feeble excuse for being over half an hour late for their appointment.

#2 #6 #3 #3 7 (#4 + #3)

Please lose the first letter of picture one.  You need the American spelling for picture two.  Substitute the fourth letter with an apostrophe.  Please put our old friend les in the middle of what you have left, minus the first letter.  You need the first name of the character in picture four and lose the last letter.  Please change the first letter of picture five to one nearer the middle of the alphabet.  You need the the last three letters (of seven) of picture six and we're all on one line.

That's it from me.  nearly home time thank heavens!
